I had 60K-ish hard miles on my RF900R when I binned it. Most of the mechanicals on that were derived from GSXR1000 & 750's. It was absolutely pristine & flawless the day I tossed it away. Never once needed a valve adjustment either!

"engine knock" is a wildcard. can be anything from a bent valve, wrist pin, rods, to loose exhaust bolts.
