Stoneman, I could not have loved my Husky SM610 any more... well scratch that, the later years with fuel injection would've sealed the deal. A Renasco seat on one o' them and you're good to go just about anywhere. The TE610 has the dirt wheels, but what an epic machine.

Have you thought about a ktm 690 SMC?
Could also throw street tires on a ktm 690 Enduro R.
I'm interested in one of these because I've read:

60ish hp
3000 mile intervals

Freedom Cycle just got a 690 Enduro yesterday. That was the bike I was looking for but it wasn't in stock anywhere at the time. I ended up getting a 500 EXC and couldn't be happier.

Bring 'em! I'm willing to try out just about anything. What I'm NOT interested in is advice though. I'm looking to test ride as many different specimen as possible. I'm not even close to the 'school me on' thread...

What I DON'T want: I simply don't like naked or half-dressed sportbikes. Yeah, great...there's this & that out there that I really shouldn't discount. Super, but I don't like 'em. And I'm not too keen on something 10+ years old, although it's not entirely outta the question either...

Thanks to Bill (ZX-12R) for bringing the 500 EXC up & letting me take 'er for a rip. The fit & finish on Orange is amazing. And the linear, smoove power delivery just oozes with confidence. Just plain awesome!

Still wanting to take a SuMo for a spin, still lookin' to try a DRZ, WRF, CRF that're road worthy. Power cruisers & newer generation VFR are still on the wanna-try list as well. But at this point, full-on sportbikes are pretty low on that list...

Id let you try my 450smr but its not currently road legal nor do I think it would be fun on the street with loudon gearing. However it is a ktm and its got a funky title so it can be road legal pretty easy. If you are at the track when the bike is and if they will let you out then take it for a spin.

I think with the right gearing it could be a good street bike especially since it has a 5 speed box.

Would not compare well to a heavily modded DRZ, WRF, or CRF.

Looks like you've got a thing for team orange now! Good luck finding a 690 in either SM or Enduro form. They are really hard to come by and the used market is very small (because no one wants to get rid of them).

You have to try a Speed Triple. Definitely not mine. Ergos are great. Faster than most bikes to 100. Sexy. Total hooligan wheelie monster. FAT torque curve:

Had a few dyno run done for a baseline before I swap some cams in. It's fine the way it is.

I want to try a Triumph Tiger, or maybe a BMW in the same vein. I think they would be great bikes for NZ.
