I went to the show this past weekend with my daughter. Our goal was two fold, to get out of the house for a bit, and to sit on as many bikes as was available to see what fit her.
This show did nothing but further confirm a few things I already knew...but primarily that two females are not taken seriously about buying a bike. Seacoast, Riverside, Cycles 128 and a few other booths blatantly ignored us or made derogatory comments towards us but never offered to help or answer any questions.
One guy at even looked at me, pointed to the EX250 and said 'there's a great beginner bike for you'...gave a great big belly laugh and walked away.
Surprised to hear that coming from seacoast. . .
*insert chauvinistic joke*

The whole show was a joke.

The only friendly booth was Moto Market.
I guess I was not man enough to be buying a bike, and I did not look Biker Bitch enough to be interested in any of the Harley oriented booths, both bikes and clothing and accessories.![]()
I went yesterday. Hadn't been in a couple of years, so I thought I'd try it again. My mistake. The entry fee is getting ridiculous, considering how little they offer now. One thing that really stood out to me is how the "leather and patch" crowd is getting really old. Saw more of these guys walking around on canes than usual (the trike mfgs must be loving it). And why the hell were there four different HA booths? Don't these guys coordinate anything? It's like the 1%ers are now more like the 20%ers.
The only somewhat-'cool' part was seeing Kim Coates and Mark Boone Jr. (Tig and Bobby) from SoA...but it was at a distance, because I wasn't waiting in that long-ass line. Otherwise, total bust.
I dont even bother with the Boston show anymore. I went the past few years and each time I left wondering why I wasted my money on it when I knew how it would be.
Why even bother with these shows...they are a joke...want to look at bikes...go to a dealer..
The NY is still good though right?
I'm not going to make the trip to NYC for the show next year...
My dad worked it and said it went gang busters. He was happy with his amount of sales. But he does cater to that crowd.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
even the car shows are a disappointment now. haven't been in years
I had a good time. It was a day out of the house, with my daughter. We saw people I know, looked at lots of bike we would not normally see, got a free t-shirt. She wore the beer goggles with Joe and Gene in the MSF booth, sat on a ton of bikes, took pictures.....
It looked like the dealers made a lot of sales. The number of bikes by 5:00 on Sunday with a sold sticker was incredible.
It was a good day overall, even though we never really got 'helped'.
I am just not into big ass tires and chrome rims on a bike. The audio works booth had some nice looking bikes. But I am still 20 years from riding one off those. Every bike I looked at I never got a salesman to come talk to me. I was hoping Seacoast was going to have a few ducati's.

I thought women went to those shows just to get fitted for the leather bra?![]()

I went to the one in Providence a few weeks ago... sucked.
Didn't the real show used to come to Boston years back?

You should be happy someone let you drive there, let alone try to buy a motorcycle...

I believe there was a moto guzzi. I remember pointing out the motor to a friend.
Well all that I got out of the expo was the ability to hurl the days food and beverage intake in the toilette numerous times starting around 9pm that night. Everytime I hear of an event at the expo i always say I am not going. But someone manages to talk me into it. Dealerships should just start charging a fee to enter the showroom. They could say they have a bike show going all year long.

Unbelievable. Totally pisses me off.
I run a little retail store selling up-market HiFi. If a total noob male or female, old or young, well-dressed or not walks in with a dumb question you can bet I'll try to help them! Their first impression of me is MUCH more important than my first impression of them.
This is a dealer show, right? The owner paid a lot of money to go there, not to mention the work involved in delivery, set up and staff overtime.
Does he not want to sell bikes & gear? Is he an idiot or are his staff lazy assholes?
I hope you send a postcard of one of your photos, with your motorcycle credentials, explain you were there to pick a bike for your daughter, identify the "sales" person who mistreated you, then ask him why you should ever refer him to your many trainees & track day worshippers!
(I said "him" because I can't believe a woman would run things the way you describe.)
Maybe he'll post it on the board for his staff to read...
The funniest part of that story for me is that Jaynnus is anything BUT a noob, and pobably knows more about bikes than the men she was dealing with. But this is the sad reality of the motorcycle industry. You walk in with boobs and get terrible service (not everywhere, but many places), unless you go to a place where they know you.

Well, that is the problem I used to run into. I have told the story of shopping for my SV a few times on this forum, where the sales guy talked to my friend (a guy) and my boobs, but wouldn't look me in the face. I was treated like a chest, not a person. And really, they aren't all that spectacular.
