So I brought home a fat chick.....

Only pic I have right now.... I'll take a few before the winter teardown begins however she's not that great to look at ATM. The original plan was to just bring her back to good OEM condition however some life changes over the past few days have brought me to the conclusion that I will need to plan a lot more work with her to occupy my time over the next couple months. For any other TLR owners, expect to see a variety of stock parts up for sale soon.

I'm currently torn between two very different directions this could go... Rizla scheme with everything powedercoarted black, or Telefonica with some selective polishing/white powedercoat. The Telefonica route would be a lot easier on the wallet/more labor on my end, but the more I look at the all black Rizla schemes, the more I fall in love with it. But it would probably involve close to $1k in powdercoating....

I saw those, but my problem is I'm a sucker for the race replica schemes, and I hate the Corona/Alstare motif. The other requirement is that kit I go with has to come with or have available a matching tank skin as having the tank painted to match will not work with my rebuild budget.

And I know a lot of people hate it, but I LOVE the TLR's fat ass.... this bike's never gonna lose that dumper

What about plastidip instead of powder coating.

That's a thought, but I haven't done enough research into plastidip. It sure as shit would be cheaper, but would it be durable enough to withstand the heat?

After doing a little reading, yea I'm going to give the plastidip a shot. Worst case I won't be out a whole lot of money and can peel it off. Only problem is I won't know the results until the bike is fully assembled in the spring and if it doesn't hold up to the heat the bike will have to be stripped again the following winter to get the frame/swingarm powdercoated.

Re: So I brought home a fat chick.....

The teardown will begin hopefully by Sunday night. I have to re-assemble an R1100RT and a KX250 just to free up the lift in the garage and get parts off the floor so I'm going to tackle that first, and then clean/sort the garage so I can have a decent workspace to begin. I somehow have to get the BMW, a CB750, KX250, and CBR600 into the garage and away from the lift with enough space around to work. I'll start a seperate build thread once I get rolling.
