we like to ride in a group right? shouldn't we all have one for better communication? if you'r 5 cars up ahead, you can give a signal for clear to pass to the guy in the back.

    good? bad?

great for group rides. And sometimes you can pick up the kids working in the McDonalds drive through. I thought I was talking to KB and Jenn one night and ended up asking some kid if we were having drinks at his house or what? LOL

I was thinking about getting one also, for group rides, and also for when I'm on my bike and my friend is in his car with the two way.

depends on how fast you're going and how where you possition the microphone, which also depends on the vent locations in your helmet.

My wife and I have been using the basic chatterbox's for a few years now... when we get on the highway we just turn the sensitivity down... they still work fine though... probably the best thing we bought when she started riding... it's nice to be able to chat on long rides... also when she was learning it was nice to be able to talk her through different situations etc...

The only problem I've had with them is where the power plug is... it's come lose on both... I need to crack them open and re-soder them... just too lazy...

They are awesome for passing situations. It's also nice to talk on long rides.

The highway speed depends on the location of the microphone and wind vents and all that jazzola.

It's a great investment. More and more folks are getting them. It's great to all have them on a ride. You can make nees for stops know across the group. make fun of other people on the road.

It's just a great way to communicate while riding.

A couple of us have them and when we go on a ride it is awesome. You can tell the idiot to shut of his turn signal, don't have to stop when you are deciding on where to go, just talk about it on the move. Warn each other about cops, point out the hottie in the car next to you, let the people behind you know it's safe to pass etc etc etc. Three of us have the one with the 5 mile range the other guy has the one with the 2 mile range, either one will work. If you get it make sure it has the noise reduction system. You can tell by the second letter in the serial number, it has to be an N(this is if you are buying it used, ask the person the serial number) and the plug on the headset(the part that plugs the ear phones into the unit itself) on the male plug it shoudl have like N/1 or someting like that. If it says sterio it is not noise reduction. I had one without it and I couldn't talk above 30mph, but my friends have it and talk all the way up to tripple digits. I had to order a new headset.

I have a chatterbox for the simple reason that when I ride with Joe it makes it easy to let each other know when we need a gas or bathroom break...or just share a thought about taking a different route or something we saw on the road. I have to stop him though from wanting to have a conversation about other aspects of life on them as my point of riding is to get away...not to just divert.

I think they are great to have on a group ride, at least the lead and the last rider, to help keep the group together.

I have not had too much trouble with wind noise however, I don't do too much highway travel. I try as much as possible to find the long way!!

GMRSX1 is the chatterbox that has 14 channels and a 5 mile range

    FRSX2 has 14 channels and a 2 mile range

both are good, but like I said the noise reduction headset is the key.

I've always heard, and read, that the Chatterbox systems weren't very good. The reviews I've seen have the Autocom systems as the best out there. Supposedly they work up to 150mph.

I'm seriously considering getting a system for both my wife and I. If I do, I'll report my findings.
