ordered mine for $89 yesterday, arrived before noon today. nuts. i'm doing a time lapse sunset test with it now...

already love my ContourHD, just couldnt pass up that deal.

when you say time lapse. are you recording the sunset and then playing it back or are you recording it and using the software to play it back at a higher speed?

i had to go out for lunch and when I got home I modified my extra gopro mounts to work with the contour.

haven't had time to play with the actual camera and the video software yet.

Just a heads up I bought that one before and I was not comfortable with the suction. I did a couple tests and it seemed to come off pretty easily.

Eddie - a legit Panavise isn't much more money. Come by at some point and I'll show you one of ours in the lab... they're holy crap strong.

Dave also has the actual Contour suction mount, I'll see if I can get him to bring it in tomorrow.

The Contour brand mounts (links above) use the Panavise suction system.

The threaded panavise thing scottfromboston posted is almost half the cost.
You should be able to work out a RAM mount setup using this base for less too.

Since we're on the subject, anyone have an opinion on how the RAM suction cup mount [that I've already ordered and is en-route to me as I type] stacks up?

not in video mode, no... i set the camera to snap still photos every 10sec at 15fps then just left it for a while. after the sun was down i shut it off, imported the ~400 still JPG shots as a sequence and did a little editing. i use Final Cut Pro to edit, not a fan of the Contour software at all.

didn't have much time but this is what i captured as a test. looking forward to working with it some more...

thanks, guys. i use QuickTime for the initial sequence then edit in Final Cut Pro.

Not necessary for the Roam model as it has the threaded bung. Both are the same panavise base.

The u shape mount may be more trustworthy than the thread mount.

I've fund that ram mounts can vibrate. The panavise arm only has a ball on one end, so my first instinct is that it will be more sturdy.
