I dunno bout that, I heard "get off the motorcycle" three times before "State Police".... but that's a moot point, IMO.

I heard it, no where in my post did I say he did not but sorry that is not cutting it! Especially when confronting someone with a motorcycle helmet on!Badge needs to be out infront and clearly visible.
You can argue that verbal is enough but there have been multiple examples where was clearly not enough when paired with problems I said and innocent people have been killed cause of it.
i just don't see why the gun was necessary in the first place. that's not how they do it around here. after watching the full video it seemed like a regular pull-over for speeding.
even if a COP came out and took his gun out walking towards me i'd be backing up a bit. damn straight i'd be nervous. anywhere there is a gun i am nervous let alone when someone looks like they're angry.
he got pulled over, so he pulled over. what was he doing extra that needed a gun out? a lot of my friends have been pulled over in cars and bikes for speeding. not once did i hear about a gun coming out.
if the "suspect" was armed and dangerous sure. but he's just on a motorcycle and he was speeding. this guy never saw a speeding car/bike before?
and regardless if he pointed the gun at the gun or not, blah blah blah, there is a way to do everything. i'm pretty sure cops have a certain set of "rules" they have to follow, or protocol, when in any type of routine situation. i'm not sure though so i'll ask my friend who is a boston police officer.
Is it any where in the realm of possibility that the officers thought he was running?

Ya definitely should have came out with the badge. I've got nothing against him pulling his gun, he kept it aimed away, it was just there for intimidation factor.
I've actually had an officer pull his gun on me once. rightly so, i got pulled over and was nervous so i forgot to put the car in park. as he approached i let of the brake and the car rolled a few feet. Every situation is different.

Ride to live, live to ride
I am kinda surprised this is still going. No one here knows the guy pulled over, therefore we know NOTHING.
The title (rider) says he was speeding, that's it. Speeding, how fast? Driving to endanger? Reckless driving? Failure to stop? Flight from a crime? Caused an accident? Failure to Stop? Fit description of a felon? Had open warrant? High Crime area! Maybe all of the above, maybe none of the above, maybe more. If the Officer can reasonably justify drawing his weapon, which is not hard to do, he is in the right.
That clip is way to short to form even the slightest opinion.
From my time overseas... Use of Force continueum. I think it applies with Police Officers.
Force is necessary when you face a hostile act (an actual use of force against you); or, hostile intent (the threat of imminent use of force against you.) You do not have to wait for the threat to use force first. The force used must be proportional—use the minimal amount of force necessary to eliminate the threat. If time allows, use the four S’s. These are shout, show, shove and shoot. You do not have to use every step if time does not allow. Shout—shout verbal warnings to halt. Show—your weapon and demonstrate an intent to use it. Shove—use non-lethal physical force to control the situation, to include using force to detain the person. Be creative—consider alternatives to force which might de-escalate the situation. Shoot—to eliminate the threat.

+1, this is the part I have a problem with. There's this split second of time in which that off duty cop is just "crazy road rage guy with gun". If the rider were armed and prepared bullets could have started flying, and I'm not sure the rider would be wrong to start shooting. The off-duty cop is thinking he's in an episode of "Law and Order: Traffic Violations Unit" and escalated the situation unnecessarily.

Why dont you guys track down the victim and ask him to tell us what really happen. I would love to hear his side of this story, we are still running on a video, maybe the uniformed officer called for backup because he was not out of his car fast enough so maybe he thought speedracer was gooing to take off on him.
typical pig behavior
Oh.... I didn't know that's how all "pigs" act... Have you seen the cop (I mean "pig") members of NESR acting like "typical pigs"? or are they somehow different? There's a fair amount of them on here, I'm sure you've talked to them before.
PS... xrocket, go ahead & hate cops all you want, but we don't tolerate cop hate here on this forum. Please keep your posts clean![]()

Did he get pulled over by the cop behind?
Can't see lights in the video I don't think.

he actually seemed like a fairly responsible rider. excepting the speeding part that's fairly early on in the video, he's routinely checking his mirrors and not doing anything crazy (weaving, sudden accels, etc). he also seems to realize something's going on behind him on the offramp cuz he turns around fully -- i couldn't make out the car behind, but i'm assuming it was the off-duty officer's grey malibu.
*shrug* whatever. nobody got hurt, and if there was a freak out, it was momentary.
move along folks, nothing to see here...
hurray, strikethrough!

Wow...I never expected this from a bunch of motorcyclists. He drew his piece. You guys are just pissed cause a bike got pulled over. The speeder was pulled over...nobody was hurt....and justice was served. I fail to see a problem here. The officer did just as they were trained to do.
