The lesson to be learned here:
Don't post something about crashing on the interwebz with an 'I know what I did wrong but it happens to everyone' attitude and expect not to be flamed.
And for the record, I've crashed once on the street... at 10MPH... the first day I ever rode a motorcycle.

So, not to get off subject, but are ya gonna swing down to buy my fairings today? NBD if not, after all you did ditch your Duc in a ditch didn't ya!
Friend: man riding this really hurts my balls
Me: Well you're not supposed to sit on your balls!
I thought this thread said something about tities?glad your ok....
okay get ready for some pics...
this is the start of the straight....
midway...
toward the end
the end
where my bike rested..
it comes up by surprise...and those tire marks across the grass in the last pics werent from my car and happened after my crash, dont know if someone else missed the corner or if they meant to drive over the grass...
the road looks like it continues but is actually another road...
okay after looking at these pictures again i see it was more populated than i had thought..shouldnt of been speeding that close to driveways and houses, i guess i deserved to go down.
Okay, my turn up on the soap box: What the hell are you doing running past houses like that at 80? You're gonna kill a kid or something. Stop it!
That said, talk about a fairly convenient place to lay it down. Nice shoulder to roll off on, no trees or rocks. You're fortunate.
No one "deserves it" but that just my opinion.
not trying to defend myself for riding to fast near houses but honestly there are no houses on that road for miles... those three houses are at the very end of the road had there not been a turn there i would have slowed down and was in the process of slowing down as soon as i saw that it opened up to a more populated area, like i said i dont ride to put anyone else in danger but myself, but riding like i was could have hurt someone else and i dont want that.
I'll say it. Yeah, that road's definitely deceiving. It looks like it just continues going straight. I wonder (as I sit on my couch with plenty of time to think about it), what would have happened if you just powered straight through the grass and onto the next road? I'm sure your buddy behind you wouldn't have appreciated it.
Yeah. From this angle on the internetz it looks like you came up on the houses way before the turn. First site of those houses, especially that first one with shit in the yard (is that a sled?!?), and I'd have been reaching for the right lever. But what the hell do I know. Not like I've never done something stoopid.
Don't do that again. M'kay.
..Now, how's the bike?
Franklin eh? Fun fact: I was born there.
yeah, that's a nasty surprise - i can definitely see how you were caught off guard there. glad you didn't get hurt.
as for the preachers...seriously? get over yourselves. like you've never sped past a lone driveway on some quiet back road.![]()

Your justifications are just proving that you need to think a bit more while on the road.
"No one was on the road... it was 6am." Sure is a lot of wildlife around that part of NH at 6am.
"No houses for miles on that road" So when you start seeing them that a clue something is about to change.
"I'm more of a hands on learner" apparently not.![]()
"really don't care if I hurt myself" I'm speechless.![]()

I just can't figure out why you posted this thread in the first place. Did you want sympathy? You certainly didn't want advice given your attitude, so I don't see how you were doing anything other than trolling or looking to get flamed.
And I absolutely agree with Tony, dawn and dusk are the best time to hit most of the wild life in New England.

That road is definitely deceptive...
Good choice on taking the car this time
Did you open the hood so people didn't know what you were doing?

Glad to hear you and the scoot are ok and that you learned something from it all. I made a similar mistake when I first started riding
not looking for sympathy or to get a lecture, just thought i would share something with other people on a forum that lets you share experiences with others. same reason people post what they had for dinner or what their favorite song is. now im trying to figure out why would one be reading a post titled my first crash unless you were going to show sympathy or flame them.
