i'd like to know if there is any disagreement on this.
if you follow someone and went down because of the guy in front, why would it not be your fault?
"fuckit!"
seriously?i guess the main reason is unless someone rams you no one "MAKES" you go down...YOU make you go down...

I suppose if he blew a motor and puked oil all over the road you might have an argument, otherwise stop following so close dickbag.
if he threw something at you?

i should be more clearer. if the guy in front did something stupid and crash and you pile on him. there should be no question here.
what about if he hit sand/pothole and you pile on him?
"fuckit!"
on the roadways you are responsible to keep a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front.
so this is serious...interesting
So someone crashes in front of you & it causes you crash? That the scenario?
At the end of the day YOU are responsible for maintaining YOUR margin of safety, be it from other vehicles or road hazzards. Period. Don't just ride based on what you can see, ride based on what you CAN'T see... the unexpected variable.

there is no shared blame....if 2 riders go down...they are both equally responsible... If the second person piles on to the first person they are the bigger problem in the equation if you ask me...it's one thing to get caught out there and crash because you are riding over your head...imo it's much worse to get caught out there and not only crash but smash into another rider...now your lack of skill has impacted the life of another...like honky said...the 2nd rider needs to back off!

Even on the track.
Degsy once corrected me on that one. I was following a guy through 3 and I was on his back tire because he had been getting better drives out of 3 than I was. Well his bike hiccuped and he didn't get the same drive he had been getting. Instead of ram him I grabbed the brakes and down I went.
I tried to blame it on him at first but was corrected and understand that it was not his fault at all, I had not left myself an out.

If a car cuts you off you cannot control the distance between you and the car. When you are following someone (on the street or the track), you can. It is your responsibility to maintain a safe distance from the person in front of you in order to avoid dangerous situations. If you don't, you fucked up. End of story.
It's like skiing.
The rider in front has the right of way. It is the responsibility of the rider behind and /or overtaking to assess any and all situations and not make things worse.

This is different. If you ram into someone's rear it's your own fault for following too close, end of story. If you're on a road, minding your own business and driving/riding safely and someone come out of nowhere cutting you off, then I'd say it's not your fault...ALTHO you are supposed and SHOULD always scan way ahead of you and always expect shit like that to happen. If you were to do this, you greatly reduce your chances of being involved in an accident. Of course there is always factors that come into play...what if a tractor trailer, bigger SUV, big leafy tree, fence, etc. was blocking your view and you never saw the car coming?
Every situation is different. I just ride as if everyone was out to get me, riding OR driving, I always scan around me for potential morons populating the roads.![]()

if you went down because of someone in front, it is still your fault. you are suppose to be in control at all time.
response:
BULLSHIT! There are things you have control of and there are things when you have ABSOLUTELY no control of...like Bong Puy in this case. So don't give us that shit...Not to brag but I think i'm a little better than Puy and I would've head straight right into it the same way he did...so if you have nothing good to say don't say it.
"fuckit!"
