Amazing, it's the forum version of Dumb & Dumber...
We should probably just talk about gear, roads and weather.
My latest mantra for MA cage drivers
-- "The rocks in your brain are the gravel in my path" --
My take on this... kinda hard to move on from 'racism' if everyone insists on classifying themselves and others.
What's next?

I'm not sure where you have lived if you've lived in the South and not experienced racism. Its basically an unspoken civil war in TX between the old, white retirees and the Mexicans. There's no respect in either direction. I went into 4 different restaurants and whether intentionally of unintentionally, there was a clear separation in the room between the two. Whites on one side, Mexicans on the other.
I also lived in Jacksonville for a while and there is a TON of racism, in both directions. I have actually had a black cashier at a gas station blatantly skip over me, cash out the black person behind me and then roll her eyes and ring my stuff up. I'm not angry about it, but that doesn't make it right. The tension in most parts of South Carolina, Georgia and parts of Florida that I've lived or visited for extended periods is almost palpable. This has nothing to do with white guilt, it has to do with the fact that we still live in a country where people fly a flag that stands for a battle over the right to own slaves. Things are by far better now than they've ever been, but they are not as good as they should be.

Racisim exists, plain and simple but it exists with people and not the system. Last time I checked we all drink from the same water fountain. White or black we all have access to public education. The minority kids had just as much a shot as the white kids. College? There are quotas and scholarships and minority programs. We bend over backwards to cater to diversity sometimes to the deficit of qualification. We have affirmative action which is fundamentally racist but seems to be embraced as what is right. I really don’t get it. How can you possibly stand up and say you want to be treated like everybody else and then ask for special treatment. Try getting a top college internship as a white male right now! You will have to fight against companies who have succumbed to inroad programs or outreach programs, or whatever it is they are calling it. You want and end to racism? End the special treatment! This is what makes others resentful! MLK said “not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character” and we have strayed so far from this by giving race credence on top of qualification. The big question on racism was that if we are a fundamentally racist country could we possibly elect a quasi-black president? You have your answer. And do you know why? Because the so called White majority is the minority! So the next time you get skipped over in a checkout line, blame the cashier, not the country.
one year on vacation at Deals Gap, while in a convience store in Telleco Plains, TN, I had the same thing happen except it wasn't a clack cashier, it was a Cherokee cashier and a whole line of Chreokees behind me,
my one experience with the Cherokee Tribal PD was also similarly unpleasant

not sure if this is valid in what you are talking about but you have to remember each section of the country has different negatives to deal with as well. For example, if I drove to Texas right now and parked my truck (in certain parts) it would would probably get stolen and brought to mexico within 2 hours. People who deal with that type of reality are not going to love mexico for instance. I'm just saying maybe some of what people see isn't really 'racism' toward all.

Yes that is true my high school career would not qualify me for Harvard maybe closer to State Pen.
But somewhere there was a more qualified candidate that did get affirmative actioned out of his/her chance.
70 years ago most whites wrongly believed that some races and even women were intellectually incapable of some levels of higher education. It was beneficial for some to be placed in this environment in order to prove that this was not true.
Once that the fact was established the rest was gratuitous pandering.
If you are a Harvard alum I would cruise quietly until your hero fellow alum have a couple of years under his belt. Maybe his policies will help the USA and being in the USA I would benefit but his policies seem to run contrary to my experience and knowledge of economics, people and history.
