I agree. President-elect Obama will be our 44th president and deserves our respect and support. He won a smashing victory yesterday.I'm cautiously optimistic. I hope Obama proves me wrong
Cautious optimism perfectly describes my feeling about this election for the past few weeks.

Let me extend my congratulations to all of those who voted for President Elect Obama. The democratic populous of this nation really turned out this time and voted in record numbers and I commend them for it, you have received your reward. Even though I did not support this choice I was thrilled to see my generation, one that is notorious for not voting, get up and do their civic duty and voice their opinion. The fight is over and the outcome is sealed. As some have said, I really hope he proves my fears to be unfounded and leads this country into a time of unequaled prosperity. Rest assured I will be the first person to congratulate him if he is able to do so. What you will not see me do is consistently speak of how this nation would have been better off if things turned out differently. The campaigns are over and we must now push forward. To sit idly by and speak of what could have been is to actively do nothing to change what can be. Barack Obama’s message was unification and I really hope that this is what we will see, not only from the American people, but from our congressional leaders. I hope the goal of working together, republican or democrat, was not too ambitious or idyllic. So in closing to all those who helped elect our 44th president, you did a fantastic job and you should be commended for it. To all those who did not, the race is over and as Americans we have no choice but to respect the decision of the people and lend our support, not resistance, to move this country in a direction that is best suited for the citizens of this country.
Change my ass. In a year we will still have to go to work, pay too many taxes, and try and squeeze in as many track days as possible.
I am against racism in all forms so focusing any attention to a persons race is wrong. Obama the candidate won, not Obama the black man. I am an acknowledged minority in this opinion, but I feel until we treat people as people not as a part of X diversity group we shall never be all equal.
The President leads, the congress decides, and they have brought us to where we are.
Bush was a crappy leader, He relied on advisers and was just a figurehead. yet he is blamed as the reason we are where we are. The House & Senate must be held accountable as well and they were not. Only time will tell if they allow themselves to be led by Obama and what he has to do to get them to follow.
52% popular vote is not speaking loud and clear. We spoke, they heard but I don't delude myself by thinking that Obama or the Democrats have a mandate from the people like Clinton or Regan had at their prime.

I am glad everyone thinks "change" is coming.
If you think it is coming, perhaps it will give you the drive to get out and make change for yourselves.
No one, including Obama can make change. Americans as a group need to now get out and work harder and whine less. If people sit back and wait for "change" the next 4 years will be worse than the last.

I agree with Manny. What the country needed was hope and a call to action and I think Obama provides both of those for those willing to put down generations-old stereotypes and cynicisms.

A little food poisoning isn't so bad. Flushes out the system, trims the water weight (fat). It sucks at first, but it expells things that didn't belong in the system in the first place![]()

Wow that is pretty profound. Seriously. With attitudes like that then
positive change may really happen. The door is now open people have to walk through. One thing I feel really good about is that the man seems genuine, he seems intelligent, seems to care about working class people, and seems to want to listen. All things the Presidency has lacked in recent years.

I agree, but first Americans need to see themselves as Americans above all else. We are not Irish-Americans, African-Americans, Italian-Americans or any other sort. We are all Americans, and should put aside any feelings otherwise.I am glad everyone thinks "change" is coming.

Are you fucking kidding me Keith? I feel stupider for having read that bullshit.America committed national suicide tonight because we turned control of this nation over to inferior people who, in the history of the world, have never created or maintained the kind of advanced nation that we White people created here.
