    Re: Fun with Mother Nature!

I hit a bird with my front tire while accelerating hard on an on-ramp. I think he misjudged my closing speed as he tried to fly across the ramp and I fuckin nailed him with my front tire. I'm sure he died.

I'm lucky he hasn't higher or it would have damaged me and/or the bike.

I got hit by secondary (not direct hits) lightning bolts twice in 5 minutes on my bike last year. One bolt struck the railing on a bridge I was crossing and I got hit in the left shoulder. I was reaching for the left handgrip at the time, having just wiped my visor with my finger squeegee, and the bolt jumped from my hand onto the handlebar. I don't know where it went from there, but the bike was not damaged. Scared the crap out of me and hurt like hell. 5 minutes later, I had just about come to a stop in my driveway when lightning struck my drinking water well head about 30 feet away. Electricity arced from my boots to the pavement as I was putting my feet down. That hurt too and I nearly dropped the bike. I'm kinda skittish during thunderstorms now.
