Here's my take on the whole rising gas prices thing. I don't care if it's 5 dollars a gallon, I'm still going to drive my car and bike.
The gas price thing is so stupid it's not even funny. People get all Chicken Little when it jumps up 2 cents a gallon. Do you guys realize with a 17 gallon tank even 50 cents a gallon only makes you pay 8.50 more per fill up. Sure, someone's going to tell me "but Cam, that's a whole $442 per year" (filling up once a week).... big fuckin' deal. It's only $9 a week more. Yet, these same people have no problem buying $40 cartons of cigs every week.
Stop crying about 9 dollars, people. Cry about price fixing and gouging. THAT'S where the problem is.
Yup.
I have said the same thing, and untill when 2 weeks ago I actually did pay for gas, and commuting 125 miles per day, I was telling every one it was only costing me 10-15 more a week. I am just more concious of when I am going to do errands, to do all of them. My trips and aother habits have not stopped.Originally posted by Cam_In_RI

"fuckit!"
Well today i broke down and tried 89 octane with the gixxer. So far no knocking at idle. What i worrie about however is not so much the static compression but the dynamic compression when the cylinder get more to it's max VE. So until the prices come down i am going to take it easy on the throttle unlike i did with the 93 just to be safe. When i filled it up it did have about gallon of 93 still in the tank, but i don't think this makes to much of a difference still. So yes so far it is working at 89?
for light duty though

only $8.50/tank MORE for a fill up eh, it shouldn't even const $8.50 per tank to fill up, I know we can't go back to the day of my first car (VW Beetle) when I could drive for ONE PENNY PER MILE .... you prolly don't remember their advertizing slogan , but fillups were less than $3.00 and I could drive 300+ milesOriginally posted by Cam_In_RI

I did the same thing, I swear my bike sounds a lot better at idle too with 89.Originally posted by TC

Kham... I am a lot more likely to be riding my VFR to work in the winter but yah I go out and bicycle in the winter too. It's actually more comfortable then motorcycling most of the time. (think, what keeps you more warm, walking, or sitting still)
Pretty sure if I had a dual sport or dirt bike I'd be riding that a lot in the winter. It'd have to be something dirt cheap though.
