No, this isn't an ode to Led Zeppelin. I'm planning on moing to the west coast in March when my lease is up. I can pretty much choose where I want to live/work from the following list. There are a ton more locations in SoCal, but I think I'd rather live farther north, as I have friends in OR.
I know a lot of you are from or have lived in CA, so I figure maybe you can offer some insight around what the best places to live are (proximity to tracks and decent roads). Cost of living is also a minor concern. I make decent money, but will be moving out there alone. Thanks in advance!

Palo Alto and SF are real nice but be prepared for a huge
difference in cost of living.....but i think you already know that
Redwood City is nice too, Steph lived there for a couple years and loved it.
I don't know much about living there. BUT Marin and PaloAlto are nice country I have been there on business. Good luck in your endevor.
Sacramento is also very nice. I would not recommend San Francisco as that is basically the highest in cost of living. If you can pick other locals as well you might want to consider Oxnard (very nice are, lower cost of living, beach community)
I can live anywhere, but would have to work in one of those places.

My 'rents live in Burlingame right now. It's nice there, Infineon is about an hour north and Laguna is about 2 hours South. Weather is always nice up there, but traffic is garbage...
get well soon.

I would NEVER live in Cali. I have travelled out there so many times. Between traffic, earthquakes, stifling heat in the south, and Santa Ana winds in the north alway keep it cool that place is just not for me.
