Are u moving again? What major differences did u noticed between east & west? I'm talking expense wise and was it worth the move?
Yes we're moving again. When I moved here I was single and planned to stay for a few years and then re-evaluate. Well, I've since gotten married and my husband has always lived here but wanted to move to Tucson, where he spent his summers as a kid and has lots of relatives. Since we're going to be working on starting a family, I agreed that having lots of people around to help and a 35% lower cost of living made sense.
The bad:
There are soooo many differences. Groceries are 30% more expensive if you don't ask around. luckily I found a ghetto grocery store called FoodMaxx that has cheaper shit.
It cost me almost $600 to register my car and bike every year. My car was 18k brand new, so that should tell you something.
Rent is outrageous. We pay $2500 a month for a nice 4 bedroom house in a shitty neighborhood just outside the ghetto. If you need a house with a garage, don't expect to spend less than $2000.
Taxes, taxes, taxes. 9% sales tax. 9% income tax. Its all outrageous. Pisses me off.
Oh, and worst of all, No Dunkin' Donuts or Papa Gino's!!!
All in all though, I loved living here and want to cry every time I think about leaving. Its 70 and sunny today and it will be 70 and sunny from now until the spring, when its 80 and sunny and then 85 and sunny in the summer. I love how healthy the people are here. I've lost about 20lbs just being able to be outside and ride my bike or walk the dogs. The food can't be beat. If you can think of a type of food, you can get it in San Jose.
I guess the bottom line is that people pay a premium to live here that I think is well worth it. If we ever decide to leave Tucson, we'll be coming back to CA. I have not regretted my decision to move here a single time since I got over the lack of Dunkin's.

I can see being upset about Papa Gino's due to their Chicken Garlic Primo, but DD? Really?
No, no.

Ever lived somewhere without it? Starbucks' iced coffee is SHIT and you can't get Boston Cream donuts anywhere but DD.
To each his own I suppose, but my husband has lived here his entire life and never had DD. A few trips there when we were in NY and AZ and he can't wait to hit one up every time we're near one.
