    GPS for the bike

I don't know crap about these things, but my wife bought me a nuvi 200 for a gift.

Not sure this one will work well on the bike though although it seems pretty slik. Looking for recommendations for a great set up for a bike or model designed for a "outdoor" use etc.

    Thanks

    GPS for the bike

I just bought a Zumo450 the Zumo series are designed specific for a bike, comes with a ram mount, locking cradle, good size screen, visible even in bright sunlight, waterproof, left hand controls/touch screen, memory is cheap SD ram card you can listen to mp3 files or view jpg.files (I can swap my Sd card from my camera into my gps and view the pics) you can get optional fm traffic reciever

Zumo550 adds XM radio, and an additional windshield mount for a car (even if you never use the XM, if your going to swap use between a car & bike, its worth the difference in price just for the mount)

    I don't think the Nuvi's are waterproof

originally I planned on buying a marine unit, the Garmin 276c but maps are not included, and it takes proprietary Garmin ram cards

    NUVI is not WATERPROOF!

Also, the Zumo 550 adds Bluetooth.

I have th Zumo 450. The MapSource program that comes with it is pretty good BUT it doesn't distinguish DIRT roads from paved. Street Atlas does, I think, and it is possible to uploade routes from Street Atlas, though I haven't done that yet!

Yeah I shelled out the dough for the Zumo 550. I love it. I have it wired to my helmet and listen to MP3's and get directions in my ear. Like when Pete ditched me last week and I was on the North Shore. I set it for highway avoidence and took back roads home. It was great to have it beep in your ear and tell you where to go. So definitly check out a Zumo. I like the bluetooth feature. When a call comes in and you are on your bike you will hear it ring and see the caller id. You can decide you want to pull over and call the person back.

I know the Nuvi is not waterproof... but besides that... any problems with one on the bike?

Zumo is designed for motorcycling ... vibration and waterproof.

Nuvi is not ... save a nickel and spend ten bucks later.
