What did you use for a power cord for your gps? Did you just chop the cigarette lighter attachment off?

You could do that. Just be sure to put an inline fuse. Also make sure the 12v adapter dosn't drop the voltage down for the GPS.

For my garmin I ordered the motorcycle harness from ebay.

I think you want part number 51-2835
I can get a few different configurations for that. Male or female. Check out the TR catalog page that's in the attached file. You can get these anywhere that sells Tucker Rocky or Gerbings heated gear. You can always have me mail it to you too if it's easier.

I used stock harnesses with inline fuse to hard-wire my Garmin 276c directly to the battery on both my ZZR and my ZX-14. No problem whatsoever. Been running this way for years. Just don't leave the GPS on (especially with the backlight on all the way) with the bike off for a long time.

What does the harness look like? I tried searching eBay, all I could come up with were the regular cigarette lighter cables.

Basically just a 2 wire cable with a positive and negative. Also has an inline fuse and a headphone jack. Look on the back of your GPS. If it says 12v is the input voltage then cutting the cig. adapter will be perfect. However if the input voltage is less than 12v, you don't want to do that.
Here's the mount kit I bought for my bike
I used that cradle with a ram mount bolted to the 2 front fuel tank bolts. Of course that harness is specific to my GPS, Garmin 2720. If you tell me what you have for a GPS I can help find what you need.

+1 - I rigged up a cigarette lighter/power port to the battery tender. This let me charge the cell phone, Ipod, and run whatever when I needed it. The wiring couldn't be simpler - the center is the positive, the sleeve is negative. Good luck.
