I'm going to Moto Market today at lunch to buy some heated gear.
Time to take the plunge. Enough of being hardcore. I'm going to wire that shite up along with the heated shield helmet from my snowmobile, some tire chains, winter tire air, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh bring ont he goddamned snow.
TheIglu mentiond that Moto Mkt had liners on sale for 169 and heated gloves for 60. I'm all over that shite.

Get yerself some of Randy's famous snow tires and you too can ride the Kanc on superbowl sunday!
Which brand you looking at?
Cheers,
Chris
But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.
Gebring it's called. I have been lookign for a few years and aftert this past sundays ride to VT I am getting some. Once you get that chill in the small of your back your done for. At least with the vest you can crank it up and warm yourself back to life. The possibilities seem endless now. Ice fishing, Football games, anythingoutdoors and cold. Get a MC battery and a cord and your warm all day ice fishing.

Bahahahhahaa... never thought of the ice fishing angle. For that I always go with the "illusion of warm" (ie, large quantities of single malt scotch and coffee)
What are you gonna do for an accessory socket on the bike? Do they sell the wiring kits there too? (not a bad price for the Gebring stuff too)

I work in concord so I'm close to them. I am going to head over there at lunchtime.
I'll let yah know how I make out.

hey ya wanna get me a set too?
I'd call on the gloves. Not positive about the price. That's what I "remember".
I'm sure they had the jacket liners (not just vests, arms too) on sale for $169.
If I get some bills paid off this weekend then I'll be down for a full set including pants!
Group buy anyone?
2021 KTM Duke 890 R
2020 BMW R1250GS Adventure Exclusive
1982 Honda CB750F Super Sport
This will be my 3rd year with my Gerbings and you'll love them.
I highly suggest taking the whole plunge, though. I have the gloves, socks, jacket and pants. If I had to drop anything, the pants would go first... but if you can afford to get it all, its a great feeling to be completely toasty regardless of the outside temps.
does motomarket do anything for group buys? what about NESR discounts?
Unless you're going full core RandyO style you may not need the whole set of gear.
With just a jacket I was *fine* in the 30s. I rode once last winter when it was 17 and that was OK around town.
Biggest thing is to cover your body completely and keep the wind out. When it's really cold and you've got the heated gear on, any place on your body that gets wind on it feels like a radiator sucking the heat out of you.
Ben
if there is gonna be a group buy, i would be interested in some heated gear too
WSMC #940
I'm interested.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
If the folks over at MM wanna discuss this, I'll be happy to talk to 'em about it...Originally posted by oreo_n2

I know I've been considering AT LEAST the vest...![]()
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
If there is a group buy, I'm in!!![]()
I HATE being cold![]()
For anyone interested, I have a brand new set of heated grips for sale. PM me for more info!
Jamie
I got 6.90 off the thermostat but no deal ont he jacket.
Oh well at least I will be warm.
The guys at motomarket were very helpfull. Price is price but I always like a deal.
He said if we all buy together he'd give us a deal but single nothing.

all I have is an electric vest, and heated grips, and hand guards, stay away from snowmobile gloves if you are going on long rides. they are designed with thumb throttle in mind, the excess insulation on the palms fatigues your hand
Hippo Hands? work real good but not with bar end mirrors
I will go out and ride all day in winter down to 20°, once it gets colder, I limit my rides to a tank of gas or less, I always fill up just before I get home so it is parked with a full tank of gas minus 3 miles
I have discovered that electric vest & grips alone are not enuf, below 20°. the bike is running SO GOOD at that temp, all you want to do is twist the throttle, you quickly start to cool off at 80 mph, wind chill is prolly in the -50 range.
I want to get a snowmobile helmet, better insulation, not sure if the heated visor is necessary, I've never had any problem with the visor on my Arai,

below freezing, you want to think about tires too, most rubber turns to hockey puck material.
