i know you wanna be different but you dont have to go that far.

you will need to get use to the boxer engine. it wants to drop to the right when you rev it.

That's a great bike. Handles very well, makes gobs of torque and good power, plus it can really eat up the miles in huge comfort... Build and material quality are very high as well.

Squids ride all kinds of bikes!!! Many Beemer riders are bit nutso. Go for it... if you can afford it

Heh, you might not like that Gear Limited top speed though

Dunno if the boxer cup replica is gear limited given that its a race replica, but most of the BMW bikes (R1150GS for sure, my buddy owns one) are gear limited (in my buddies case, gear limited to 120 mph), and replacing a final drive for higher top end is much more costly than a sprocket/chain swap

Certainly cuts down on certain types of squidly behavior!

    Cheers,
    Chris

But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

Yes, it is possible to lean em that far. They do it at the boxer cup races every year (Which is why the boxer cup replica bikes have replaceable carbon fibre valve covers)

I'm not the paul from motomarket, and I know most beemers EASILY do 140+ I've never heard of gear limited speed. What do you mean by that?

BTW, dragging engine parts is fairly common. inline four motors until like this year were so fat that they dragged on many models (R1, CBR, etc.) at full lean.

The heads on the S drag, but you've got to be really cranked over (race pace) or hitting a transition bump to do it.

I used to drag the case guards on My EX500.

Bouncing off the rev limiter in the top gear on a R1150GS with knobby tires on was an indicated 126. Ie, the gearing of the bike is such that without changing the max RPMs you can't go any faster. My K100RS topped out at roughly 138, also do to gearing limits. With the "trick" lufty final drive you could get up to 146 ('ooh' lol).

These are just the BMW's I have direct experience with, I know for sure that many of the BMW "sports" lineup will do well over 140, and I think the gearing restrictions on the R1150GS at least were due to trying to make the bike pseudo dual use. (In other words I take back the "most BMW bikes", and make that "most BMW bikes I have owned or rode")
