I think I look pretty good in my Hi Vis Scorpion gear. But I guess that make me gay. So bite me.

Arguing about a topic that has nothing to do with the OP is gay.

No, that's why I said "the last part wasn't so much directed at you". When I said "it was directed at the people who seem to think it's the only way to describe hi-viz gear", I was referring to sdog30 and lxpony. I should have made a different reply or a new paragraph instead of using my reply to you as a jumping off point. I'm sorry you can't keep up. The heart of the issue is that I really wish people would just stop using the word gay as an insult. It's immature and completely unnecessary.

This is HILARIOUS.
To answer...yes I'm in the closet and use the term gay in a derogatory way. I guess I didn't learn anything from that "NBA Cares" commercial that says it's not cool to use the term "gay" to make fun of something.
Lxpony had nothing to do with this poll...although he is gay and rides poles.
Although it is hard to read "sarcasm" it is definitely full in here and the only one serious seems to be NobodySpecific who I'm guessing has a closet full of Hi-Viz stuff and was picked on in school.
Everybody just relax and try and enjoy a fake poll on a motorcycle forum that was created in jest.

Forgot an option: I am sure Hi-Viz gear looks gay but really don't give a damn because I think there is an outside chance it might help make me more visible
I'm probably taking this whole damned thing too seriously, aren't I?!
In related news. I really do like how my new bright green Scorpion helmet looks. I think it is kinda cool. Way cooler than my vest.

I think everybody is seeing the apostrophie in the wrong spot.
I bought some rain gear when I rode to Tennessee. Black was in stock but I had to wait to get yellow. I figured rain=low advisability. The brighter better. I waited for yellow, happens to match my bike and I feel a little bit safer.

But you ARE more likely to be seen
Don't confuse visibility with riding strategy. They're related, but they are not an inverse relationship - meaning as one goes up the other goes down. Just because you're more visible doesn't mean you don't have to ride with a strategy, and just because you ride with a strategy doesn't mean you don't have to be seen. The two, when used TOGETHER yeild the best results.

Hate to drag on the OT part of this topic, but there are a lot of people who use the word 'gay' without it being specifically anti-homosexual; rather, a mildly derisive term of being flamboyant in dress or manner. Sure you could trace word geneology to where it was intended as a slur against a specific demographic (and still is, of course), but not every person of a branching sexual orientation is a drag queen. The term as originally conceived is still a usable word, and is only derisive because many people are stiff necked types who can't fathom why some people are more openly extravagent in how they live...which has nothing to do with relationship preferences. On the rare occassion I use the word 'gay', and it's definitely not intended as a slur that needs a cultural sensitivity class.
Oh shut up about the gay thing already! Just..... stop being so damn gay!

I can't help being flamboyant.
Nobody knows I'm gay so I'm going to start wearing Hi-Vis to find "others like me" tapping boot...

I knew, Kenn so I hope you didn't take offense in me using the term the way I did. I actually grew up in northampton and have a bunch of gay and lesbian friends, so wasn't using the term in a "hate crime" kind of way but more of a "get my point across like a sledge hammer" kind of way.
I actually think the term has taken on a new meaning, kind of like how they used "fag" to describe harley riders in South Park. Anyways, this whole thing was a joke and either you found it funny or you didn't. My basis was that hi-viz gear was gay, lame, retarded looking. I never said the people that wear it are gay. You want to look stupid for some extra protection, great.

Bri got me a nifty zipper from the fabric store today. Gonna sew that onto my crossing guard vest in place of the velcro.
