Right...and the way you have the tag mounted on your bike is NOT factory. I think that's the rules with a lot of states...don't look for clauses about mounting the plate vertically or horizontally, look for clauses that say the plate MUST be in the stock location. On said Harley, that would be legal.
I don't get it when it comes to tag location. Sure the stock rudder on the rear of the bike has to go, but why put the plate way up under the tail, down low, horizontal, etc? Buy a fender eliminator and call it good (I have read of people getting shit from LEO's even with a fender eliminator, tag is almost OEM location)
Why do you want to attract more attention?
I myself could careless what people do to their bikes, but if you move your plate you're just giving 'em more reason to pull ya.
my 2 cents
slyder. some people, including myself want something to be different. i dont like seeing the same exact bike that everyone else has. when you make changes like a plate mount, you're one step closer to making it your own.
some people like to have a bike that looks exactly how they sell from the dealers, some like to have something unique that they can call their own.
nothing wrong with wanting to be different, it's just a preference.
Right....and if there is a law that says your choice in being different is illegal, then what?
My bike is my own, and it doesn't look like all the other K7 blue and white gixxer 1000's on the streets......but aside from a rudder eliminator...tag stays kinda in the OEM location.
I'm all up for not having a bike that looks identical to the guy down the street, but sometimes you just can't mess with stuff without attracting attention, tickets, etc.
Do you move the tag on the cage too?
Maybe I'll stick mine in the front and rear windshields and see what happens![]()
many people on here (who will remain anonymous) have several mods done to their bike that make it illegal. it's just part of the world of bikes (cruisers and sport bikes). people make these illegal mods knowing they're not supposed to, but like the performance or appearance changes it makes. to some, it's worth the risk of having an illegal bike. again, just a pereference.
and since you asked, yes i did relocate the plate and handle on my truck from stock

Legal or not, I've never been a fan of side mount plates... Looks silly to me.... like it's an afterthought. "Opps, forgot a plate... um... eh, just stick it there".
But if you like it that's cool, I only say that because you asked my opinion.
... ok, maybe you didn't but I said it anyway![]()

honestly i didnt do it for the sake of cool looks...i didnt it because my undertail plate was stolen/snapped off of my bike which in turn damged the bottom slightly. now the only way to put it undertail again is to drill more F'in holes which i dont wanna do. so the side mount was a compromise

who cares if its legal or not, its a lot more acceptable to LEO's than your old setup was, good job!

i've gotten a good lean on my bike with my plate mounted under the passenger peg. never actually thought about if it's close to the ground, but i might start asking people behind me to let me know if it's close.
anyone have a swingarm mounted plate (spyder does, right?) that knows if clearance is an issue on corners?
