Everything on this bike was designed for a reason.

First off, the bike was never designed for the Street Rider, they just dumbed down the race version for Mid-Level riders.

As for the Turn signals, they were designed and put in that specific place to work together with the mirrors to deflect and direct wind away from the riders shoulders, chest, and head. This infact works exactly how it was designed to work. The exhaust is mainly a fad, although they did beef it up to meet the strict emissions standards. The cowlings were designed to give the bike a minimalistic feel, this makes it so there is less interference with cross winds. And in theory, give the bike a better "Flick" ability.

Just keep in mind, Kawasaki didn't build the bike for people to ride around on the weekends. It was built with the Track in mind.

(also, KIMS is not technically a traction control)

    (Sport Rider April08)
"When project leader Yasuhisa Okabe was asked how much racing influenced development of the 08 Kawasaki ZX-10R, he quickly revealed, 'All of the ZX-10R's development took place on the racing circuit. Every change we made was for superior performance on the circuit first. All else was of secondary importance.' Surely there were some alterations made for the street rider? 'Hmm,' he murmured, actually having to think hard about it. 'Very little. Not much.'"

That all makes sense, but the ugliness of the bike is a vast difference from street to track. The signals would be removed for the track, that doesnt matter. The shape of the lights and all that, if youre planning on putting on track bodywork none of that matters. Why cant they keep the spirit of a track bike, but make it visually appealing to the street rider?

I don't think the mirrors are an afterthought. Makes sense to me that it's not on the mirror and below the elbow. Take a guess how much replacement mirrors cost on bikes that integrate the mirror/flasher!? I'd be broke for the # of times I've scuffed/scratched/broke mine. But they are $20 Emgo replacements so who cares. I also give kudos for going back to a right-side exhaust mount...unlike the other makes. I like the looks but having sat on this bike, I will say it is flatout uncomfortable. I felt like my torso was so far forward and up high. The racing influence is evident...but I'm not sure if that is such a good thing for the street.

awe, l3uddha, don't get your panties all in a bunch cause I didn't think the bike was ugly. Seriously, its cute you feel you have to 'carry a big stick' on the internet.

I can't believe two pages of Kawasaki styling criticism hasn't even mentioned the Versys yet?

I may be alone in my fandom of that bike.

Well, let's not start sucking each other's dicks quite yet... as far as the designed as a race bike BS The previous 10 was born to be a race machine also, so why does only this one look like dogshit?
