I picked this up towards the end of the season last year (replaced my '07 1000RR).... no regrets yet.
Comes stock with:
Marchesini wheels
Brembo brakes
WP suspension (front and rear)
Slipper clutch
3 fuel map settings
I still have the '03 600RR for the track... but the Duke has been a-lot of fun on the street. I do miss some of the power, but the thing handles like it's on rails.

I have a 12 mile commute to work, most of which I can do on dirt roads. The panniers are practical for that. I also might do some lightweight camping on it. If anything I would get knobbier tires that the Enduro 3s on there now.
The bike comes without a kickstand though, and lifting it onto the centerstand is a bitch. The long travel suspension sucks up all you energy trying to heave it onto the stand. That's got to change somehow.
Me: "Normal people wouldn't do this."
Peter: "First you have to operationalize with normal is."
