Reports trickled in late last night, here is what I know....
Scott Kolb is now the World Record Holder for 125cc unfaired motorcycles!!!
From what I've gathered so far, Scott made a second attempt late Wednesday, but had mechanical problems with a newly installed cooling duct. The duct managed to rub the front wheel, causing the wheel to shred. Scott managed to keep the bike stable and complete the run, but only managed a paltry 109mph.
The team made a third attempt early yesterday and fell short of the partially streamlined record by 6mph. In a last ditch effort to grab some glory, they decided to ditch the streamliner and go for the 125cc unfaired World Record. The standing record was 115mph. Scott triped the speed traps for a 119mph average !!
If I know Scott, he'll spend the winter in some sort of make shift
windtunnel and try for record number two next year !!!![]()

Funny your should mention the Ram Air option. They tried a ram air duct, not for direct carb pressurization, but as a mean to cool the engine and try leaning via temp control. Unfortunately as you can see from the report I posted, the duct managed to rub the front tire very badly at full nick. So they abandoned the entire streamliner and went unfaired and got the world record !!

Hey Paul - This is Bill ,shared the garage with you last weekend. (RS250).
Scotts a great guy, tell your friend to go say hi. If I know Scott he'll offer him a run on the thing....
From what I heard back, the whole scene out there is really something, sort of a Burning Man for Motorcyclists. Everyone is helping everyone, even each others competition. Its great vibe and lots of fun. He likened it to the old days roadracing at Bryer.
I'm going next year !!

Very cool! a 90 main is LEEEEAN. I guess the elevation makes it a bit toughre to hit high speeds out there. A friend of mine went out to watch this year. I'll have to ask him if he checked out the 125 rig.
A pic of the bike on the salt....

Reminds me of that movie The World's Fastest Indian(2005) starring Anthony Hopkins. I recommend seeing it.
