That is way more gooder.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
that is a truly beautiful bike, do they still make it? if not when was the last year that they made it, i have heard rumors of these bikes but always thought they were like unicorns..... beautiful fabled creatures
The first year they made it was also the last year they made it, 1999. 500 total made with 50 coming to the USA![]()

Weren't they were only imported to the US to satisfy AMA homologation requirements for Superbike racing? I thought the R7 was produced for a few years in other markets?

So rare, yet you're still not the only R7 owner on the site. Who'd have thoughtOriginally posted by R7

I don't know about the AMA homologation requirements and if it was imported to the US just for that reason? It was never sold as a street legal bike in this country. 500 units was for world superbike homologation.Originally posted by ChR1s

Yamaha made the R7 in 1999 only. The bike was still being refined in 2000 and 2001 but there were no new bikes made, only upgrades![]()

Mike Green, rg500 on the site, has an R7 also. In addition to several KTM motards...weird huh, he could be your long lost twin. I was talking to him at the last trackday and mentioned you had one, he said yeah but his was real. Apparently the "99 R7/04 R1" in your sig line is making people think you just bought an R1 and slapped an R7 paintjob on itOriginally posted by R7

I do own an r7.
I assume by your sig that yours has an r1 motor in it. I know this is commonly done, but I don't know any of the details. All I was saying is that my bike has the 750cc motor.
Mine is currently in pieces. I am installing a factory kit radiator in it and we had to fabricate all the hardpipes because they are nla.
I have actually been meaning to get in touch with you to see what you were using for frame sliders, but I guess you aren't
- Mike
The 04R1 in his sig is referring to the 04R1 he owns, not to a motor kit.

Ohh That makes sense. For some reason I just assumed that it referred to a bike like graves yamaha raced in fomula extreme. R7 chassis with an r1 motor.
oops. - Mike
You want to know the difference between yours and his?Originally posted by rg500

His is registered for the street. how do you like that? Huh? Huh? Yeah thats what I thought![]()
You suck at life. Why don't you quit?
My dad told me I could be anything I wanted when I grew up. So I became an Asshole.
RG500, how long have you had the bike? Have I met you at the VBC before? I can't remember where but I remember talking to someone one time a while back and out of the blue they just said they had a R7. I shrugged it off and said to myself, yeah rite!!!
Streetbike/trackbike? Where did you get it from?
It's obviously the real deal, I got it new still in the crate![]()

First off dhuze my bike is also street registered so I do not know what you are talking about.
Mark, I am pretty sure we have never met. I have owned it for about a year and a half. I didn't get it new in a crate but it is the real deal. I bought it on ebay, from a guy in Chicago. I have the bike registered, but I do not plan on riding it on the street much. My intention is to do a bunch of trackdays on it. I have a spare tank and race bodywork.
I didn't mean to impy that I thought it wasn'r real. It is just that I have heard of people putting r1 motors in their bikes to preserve the 750. I think it is great that you have one. When I get mine back together we should go for a ride.
Did you do the derestriction yourself? My bike has an issue with dying on decel, and I would obviously love to fix it.
I am at most of Tony's track days, if you are there look for me on the ktm. - Mike
Do you remember the guys name you bought it from? There was a guy named Kert from Chicago that sold his about a year or so ago, could it be his old bike? His came from Redwood City Yamaha in California.[B] I didn't get it new in a crate but it is the real deal. I bought it on ebay, from a guy in Chicago.
Yes, I did most of it myself. Kevin F (nesr member KMF) helped me out with a few things, I think he even has the kit manual.Did you do the derestriction yourself? My bike has an issue with dying on decel, and I would obviously love to fix it.

I got a stage 1 basic kit, throttle cables, counter shaft sproket, some fuel switch, and instructions for the "white wire" mod. I have no issues with dying on decels but from the day I did the stage 1 kit, it won't idle without the fast idle on until it reaches 74c for a temperature?
Let me know when you get it done, i'd be up for a ride, if anything just to check it out. Mine doesn't get ridden to often anymore, though it does have quite a few KMs on it![]()
Yamaha
It is Kert's old bike. I believe it has a bit more than the stage 1 derestriction done to it. It came with a ton of parts. Everything from velocity stacks, to the different thickness headgaskets. I also have the little three button tuning box.
The bike is definitely quick, but first gear takes a little getting used to.
