+1. It's the pull-my-nutz-out-from-under-my-ass move. I'm surprised there isn't more public knowledge or even literature available on this move.

And when you just gotta pull the pants back outta places where they just don't belong...well...you know.

It may be different in RI, but the way it works in the town I used to work for in MA is that every motor vehicle stop is entered into the log. There are three types of outcomes after a traffic stop that DO NOT include a criminal offense (i.e. don't end with a summons or arrest). 1) verbal warning - operator gets no hard copy of offense 2) written warning - looks just like a ticket, except it has no fine attached with it 3) citation warning - a fined citation or "ticket"

Regardless of what you get, you're entered into that town's computer system. Of the three, only citation warnings (tickets) go to the RMV and get entered into what you're thinking of as 'the system;' hence, any other agency can see that you've had a speeding ticket or what have you. Written warnings and verbal warnings only show up in that specific town that they were originally given as they do not get to the RMV, and the records stay only within that town's computer logs. Make any sense?

    Now quit being paranoid!

I did that thing in front of a cop's car in NY and VT. Never got stopped! I think some do know the difference between a stunt and the standing up to save your ass from becoming numb!

Are you sure, you were not riding on one wheel while doing that?

Not that it would be the first time an LEO was misinformed of a particular law (my personal favorite is my father getting pulled over for what amounted to intent to use in-line skates, but that's another story).

I didn't see anything with a quick look either.

Most states have a statute similar to this one:
Any person who operates a motorcycle shall ride only upon a permanent and regular seat attached to the motorcycle. A person operating a motorcycle shall not carry any other person nor shall any other person ride on a motorcycle unless such motorcycle is designed to carry more than one person, in which event a passenger may ride upon the permanent and regular seat, if designed for two persons, or upon another seat firmly attached to the motorcycle to the rear or side of the operator.

That's the great thing about an internet forum. People can
voice their personal opinions and not have to worry about
what people might think or who it might offend.

I have had one negative with a LEO in my 28 years of living.

I have not let that one negative experience taint my perception
of a profession that requires putting their life at risk.

I also have close family members that are LEO's so perhaps
that is why I have more respect for the profession than some
    other members on this forum

Seriously, zaltsy is just a cop-hater and refuses to see that there's good and bad in every profession.

they tend to be ridden by conscientious older guys who like big torque but not riding around like your pants are on fire (or at the very least, not looking like you ride around with your pants on fire). mmm, stealth.

    Re: Pulled Over...

I've been pulled over for all the stoopid stuff in Narragansett: seat belt, exhaust, front plate, etc. 0 tickets just a bunch or yelling and attitude. Must be they are expecting jerk kids and don't know what to do when it is not one. Either way, sounds like the most unimpressive stunt ever, maybe he was just dissapointed that you didn't pull up a nasty wheelie!

Heha, only one on the bike was for nothing wrong at all. LEO just wanted to let me know that Narragansett doesn't like bikes and to piss off. To which my reply was a not well received - "That is no good because I live here and this is going to get expensive..."

AFIK whenever they run a plate they can add a comment. So, if they run your plate for speeding, and give you a warning the next cop can see someone ran your plate for speeding.

If they run your plate because you report your car stolen, they can note that too.

So, in a way you have a criminal record without due process. AFIK only law enforcement can see it, but that's good enough as far as I am concerned. Now he's got something that is going to bias the the police against him.

I think that waning stays on for at least a year as the RMV can suspend your license for some amount of time if you get too many warnings.
