As a fellow Mainer, aren't you concerned about the level of salt on the road corroding the shit out of your frame? (I've got a 95 900SS, for the record.) The shitbox car I drive to work is *covered* in it... I wouldn't want that crap all over my frame/wheels/motor...

yah, i am waiting for the official quote of damages from the shop to use as ammo when i do that.. i might just stop in and ask to meet with him directly..

I called Moto Milano last night and Gerry told me he is over $4000 in damages. he told me the exact # but i did not write it down and promptly forgot. but the swingarm is done as is the shock. the frame was checking out ok but he wanted to look at it a bit closer before he gave it the all clear. the rest id mirrors and levers and winshield, foopegs and other little bits that add up. the insurance guy has not been by yet to talk to him. my bike books around $8000 but i have double the milage that it should so that may change things..

i hate waiting and i really wanted to ride today... this is making me grumpy...

it was cold and dark and well i did not want to get run over by the rest of the blind distracted drivers.. you know it's not like on the track where laying still and small keeps you safer... though it might have been a good idea..

i had him stay and the cop got his info and it is in the case# or so it apeared.. again i had a bunch of accedents in highschool and collage and i alway got tons better info from the poliece than i got when i tried to get it myself i kinda assumed i would get the same treatment..

    oops

I'd let you take the ST out, but it's not drivable at the moment. Gotta get that hidden XL185 I know about revived... be perfect for this kind of weather.

Brakes, I can do brakes, what's it need done specifically?

And yeah, that 200 looks nice, from what I've read it's got a nice power spread, I won't say it's got torque, but there is a midrange there, and it's not supposed to be a crazy 'hit' when you get it on the pipe.

Oh thats right, forgot that was the hold up. Get the pads, and while you're picking them up, pester G or J. Also pester C, but that's a given.

I'm really really surprised the cop didn't write the driver a ticket... Granted I'm not in ME, but in CT when I rear ended a lady in a Toyota in high school (and I in my beater Tempo), I did literally no damage to her car (although my front bumper shattered) but I still got a "following too closely" ticket.

Re: took it in the rear

i just talked to the insurance guy..he told me because they can get $4000 for salvage off my bike they will total it at 50% of the value of the bike.. so i am going to loose my bike. the payoff will payoff my loan but i am not certian i can get another loan to get a new bike.. on top of that it is sounding like there is no poliece report what so ever so we do not have thename or insurance info of woman who hit me. despite the face i did say that me chest hurt at the scene.. i am so pissed i don't know what to do..

i am going to go to the shop after work and talk to them and see what they say, they won't screw me. and my girl is going to talkto the PD and complain, she told me not to because I won't be able to keep my cool at this point..

Re: took it in the rear

With my scenario . I had not collision (I know I'm not going to cause an accident) so I had to go thru the woman’s insurance. The deal was that I had to deal with getting rid of the bike. O.K. less than $150 parts + Sharkskinz I had a perfectly good track bike. A few years back, now regrettably, I sold it for $4000.00. If I went thru my ins, they would have kept it. Try to hold onto it and part it out or if it seems feasible make a track bike.

If you go the I'm keeping the bike they may throw out the "then you're not getting the $ then". I think this is BS especially if they put salvage on the title.

i can't even do that if it works out to being totaled. all the $$ goes to paying off my loan. then i have to try to get another loan to get a new bike. because i don't have $4000 to buy the salvage.

formal complaint to the police dept. because you shouldnt even be dealing with YOUR ins. you should be yelling at hers. if her ins was only gonna give you $xxxx then you can moan and complain and tell them you will be getting a lawyer and scare more $$ out of them or at least get them to fix it.

seriously. you need to tell the police to not only ticket her but find the police report or THEY will be paying for the bike. you have to play hardball...serious hardball.

If you buy the bike back from the ins co., you won't be paying $4K...more likely 1-2K.

+1. File a formal report with the police dept. Explain the situation (hopefully to the sergeant), including what's going on with your insurance. The officer at the scene should have at least called in both vehicles' plates when responding, even if no report was written and no citations issued.

quick update.. we are waiting a call back for the Detective who is taking charge to find the info, i guess between my jenny and the insurance guy the switchboard lady knew exactly what case it was and is now able to transfer jenny thru to the right guy with little explination..

and in talking with the guys from the shop the bike will not be totaled.
