    Was my pleasure.

Last pic I took of Marco from the grid of the SilverstoneGP. You'd never know from his face that it was raining and freezing.

    Re: RIP Simoncelli

Since his accident his facebook following has grown from 70,000 to 128,00.

I was watching the replay of the accident, especially the part where one of the track workers was walking away from the accident with Simoncelli's helmet in his hand. I slowed it and replayed it many times. It looked like the chin strapped snapped where it is connected to the helmet. The buckle on the chin strap was still locked, but the strap apeared to be hanging from only one side of the helmet.

Wow!! I thought that Rossi posted on his Twitter that he was not able to attend the funeral...guess I thought wrong.

It's strange, I've watched celebs and other motorsport athletes pass away and Simoncelli's death has been the only one to effect me the way it has. Probably has to do with the fact that GP is one of the few motorsports I actually follow closely.

And yeah that video that Jaynnus just posted choked me up a bit.

    Re: RIP Simoncelli

This has hit a lot of people hard. As I said in another thread, last year it was the loss of Peter Lenz at Indy that was horrible...this year we lost Marco. It's broken me up in a way I didn't think possible. I'm NOT one who get's upset over a celeb's death, I'm the one who was pissed Michael Jackson's death was made a spectacle but people stopped caring about dead soldiers long ago. But Marco's death has hit me hard. To the point that my girlfriend asked me if I was going to stop riding. I of course said no because even if I raced I would still do so, even if only to honor Marco.

It truly is heartbreaking. I feel so deeply for his parents. The look of anguish on his fathers face, seeing all those racers at his funeral, the fans camped outside there to show their love and support to someone 99% of them probably never actually got to meet in person but loved just the same, not because he was a rising star in the racing world but because of his amazing personality, infectious smile and love for life. I wish I had been able to follow Marco longer in his career than just this year. I wish I could have met him just once, but even though I never did, I can say for certain that even if only in a little way, he has changed me.

His death has made me promise myself to make the most of every minute I have here, be it up to my knees in mud digging out track vehicles with my soldiers, watching a movie with my lady, getting back home to get a hand shake and a hug from my father or playing with my daughter. I'll cherish it all.

Rest in peace Marco...you won't be forgotten. #58 forever.

Guys, Steve (tricklidz) is someone i have known for years. He's a good guy. One of the best. He certainly isn't one to tacking market a product he is selling. His blog is top notch. I read it often. It's a misunderstanding. He is not promoting, just trying to find out if Sic was wearing a chest protector. I think it's a valid question.

I fail to see the need for or interest in the discussion about a chest protector in this context. The incident would not have turned out any differently had he worn a chest protector or not. As upstanding a person as Tricklidz may be, the whole thing seems in bad taste. IMO, of course.

    Re: RIP Simoncelli

I'd be very surprised if he wasn't wearing a chest protector.

However, given the nature of the impact, I'd also be very surprised if it would have made much of a difference. From the looks of it, he took an incredible impact to the top of his spine and back of the head. Chest protector or not, I don't think it would have mattered.

btw, i've got the impact armor chest/back protector combo.... top notch stuff.

For what it's worth, he wears a chest protector. See picture for proof. That's from the end of the Phillip Island race.

I agree though, I don't think it made a bit of difference in that crash.

    Re: RIP Simoncelli

Dovi's thoughts on Marco and the last race of the 2011 season....WOW....my respect for him just grew even more.

"I'm going to Valencia not in the right frame of mind for a race," Dovizioso said - "I'm very sad for the loss of Marco. I will wear his #58 on the chest of my leathers, this is the only thing that counts.
"I have raced with Marco throughout my career, he was 'the rival' and now that he is no longer with us he has left a big void. I want to convert this feeling of emptiness into determination to crown ten years together with Honda with a good final race."
Pedrosa, twice a winner at Valencia in MotoGP, said Simoncelli would be in his thoughts during the weekend. "Valencia will be a very special race for everybody," he explained.
    From this article.
