Well, I really enjoyed that article. Kudos to Schwantz for having such a great relationship with Marco.
Wow that was a great article. Thank you very much for posting.

2011 Pit Bike Race CHAMPION!
Watched the race on MotoGP.com (taped). Did anyone else hear the commentators say that he had a new haircut? They showed him on the grid before the race with a towel on his head- Ben Spies even made a comment like- "Yeah, it looks better that way"
Can anyone confirm if he had cut his hair?
Very sad- R.I.P. Sic.
Still had a big fro.

Without taking this too far off topic, even if his helmet was a size too big, I find it hard to believe that the cheek pads and other protective areas away from the hair werent SUPER customized to him. I would think that would make it just as tough to come off as anyone else. I think a freak accident of being hit at ~90mph was the reason, and probably would have had the same result for anyone.
Yep, people can blame the hair all they want but with that type of impact from the back and at those closing speeds, I could see a helmet being taken off any rider at any tim, personally.

Link? PM it if you prefer. I'm not trying to be ghoulish. I'm trying to understand in what way it failed.
The broken strap can actually be seen in many of the videos that are floating around the webs.

You can see that the strap is broken in those videos? I can barely make out that it's a helmet.
Not at all. Thought it was a great article and wanted to pass it along. Here is another:

MotoGP racing won't be quite the same without Marco. As a relatively new fan of the sport, I've watched quite a bit of racing over the past couple of years and SIC became my favorite early this year, maybe because he seemed an underdog on a non-factory team, especially being a 'big guy' compared to the prototypical rider. I always like to see Hayden and Spies do well, but I really loved to watch Marco race.
I understand everyone's concern for Vale and Colin, but I hope this won't set them back in the long term. I don't think Marco would have wanted it that way. Having lost my best friend in an airplane crash, it was difficult getting in the cockpit the next few times. That goes away, but the memories will always be there. I know two things for certain. My friend died doing something he loved and he'd be disappointed if I gave up as a result of his death. If anything, Marco's memory should serve as an inspiration for ALL motorcycle racers, including hopefully Rossi and Edwards.
