I'm assuming because we are a country that loves to sue each other, but how awesome would it be to get a road series going here.
"When there's a gap you either commit yourself as a professional racing driver that is designed to win races or you come second or you come third or come fifth, and I'm not designed to come third, fourth, or fifth. I race to win, and if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a racing driver."

NASCAR. 'Merica.
Formula 1 was going to have a race in Jersey this year. It got canceled, unfortunately, but it would have obviously been a 100% street circuit, like Monaco, Singapore, etc.
Wait, what's Formula 1?
ps. Why are you asking about road racing...in the trackday forum?

We had CART, which in its heyday(aka when Zanardi was racing) was fucking fantastic. Then they merged with IRL, and became just like all other lame ass racing series' in the US, doing hundreds of miles of left hand turns.
If you are referring to the style of racing they do in the UK, a la IOMTT, NW200 and other crazy stuff, I have one word for you: lawyers.

I actually didn't even read your post. But yes, you are correct. It would be awesome.

Marthas Vineyard would make a great USA Isle of Man style race !
They ALMOST had one in Nova Scotia about 6 years ago or so...

It's interesting that 'legal' issues aren't even mentioned in this brief article. "However, at the root of it, the real problem came down to a matter of culture, or more specifically, the lack of a motorcycling culture in Canada that is conducive to road-racing." I'd say this is true here as well. If we can set up cities for car racing and the sponsors can by insurance, we could do the same for road racing. Shit, look at the stuff Red Bull Sponsors....it's about demand, will, and money.

aint nobody got time for that
edit: also, look into Targa Newfoundland
It isnt USA but it is close and anyone can do it.

It's too bad the Cape Breton TT fell through. Seeing that type of event on the Cabot Trail would have been really, really cool.

We also dont have the tight winding roads like in Europe. Being a much larger country by area our roads tend to be more direct and larger. You can aruge that we have some tight roads but unless youve been to Europe its hard to explain. Its a bit nerve racking to go for a ride through the towns and country roads when youre not in control.
You could do it in the middle of nowhere, like Sandhills
I saw an F1 race in downtown Miami about 10 years ago. Was very cool to see the streets turned into a racetrack.
+1 on 2014. I was hoping to see it happen this year, even if I didn't make it down there. Two F1 races in this country would be good for both the country and F1.
Perhaps F1 could be the start to more road races here in the USA. I can't imagine the logistics to a bike race in the city, it would have to be done in a less populated area, but who knows. If the F1 race happens in 2014, go to it, support it, enjoy it, and perhaps it may lead to a motorcycle road race in the future. You know, the "hey they did it, why can't we" approach.
You'd have to race SUVs to handle the road conditions.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

It doesn't happen due to lack of interest. NASCAR draws 10s of thousands to races, we barely see road racing on tv here. Merca
