I got a tip, don't ask Aaron Yates for any hints.![]()
Once you get the back wheel spinning, it's pretty easy. I myself haven't done one in a while tho, but I'd imagine it still works the same...
You lookin' for tips on how to do one from a stand still? Or are you lookin' to do one as you're putting along?
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
smoked a lot a tires not in long time a rolling cant say ive ever done 1 front end comes up from stand still easy 2nd gear side ways wheely but not rolling guess u have 2 sit on tank ?![]()
All in the clutch, throttle and front brake. My experience is that every bike is going to be a little bit different, but the fundamentals are the same. Hey, wait, I can't even do a burnout standing still... nevermind rolling!![]()
Rich
im trying to do it as im moving slow, the TL just seems to wanna wheelie ...guess i gotta put on some weight to keep the front down![]()

The trick is getting the back wheel to break free. As you're coming to a stop, ya gotta balance the front brake enough to help ya get the back wheel going. You'll need a heavy, steady throttle hand and just the right touch of the brakes. I'd suggest getting used to burnouts while you're not moving first, just to get the feel of it...

There was an article in Superbike Mag (british) that gave a good step by step.
Basically it amounted to:
1) get going as a fair speed (20 or so)
2) get as much weight over the front as possible
3) get on the brakes good and squeeze the clutch, to get even more weight over the front
4) roll on the throttle and then drop the clutch like you read about. Don't feather it out, drop it like that girlfriend after she shagged your best mate (or some other witty british saying)
5) modulate spin with throttle and clutch and movement with front brake
Steps 3 and 4 must be done rather quickly.
I've never tried but they seem to know their stuff.
Steve
The key is to squeeze the front brakes hard...just to the point that the back tire is about to come off the ground. At that time you start to roll on the throttle while holding the front brake and the back tire will have zero chance of getting traction. (No wheelies)
I just got new tires, but I'll be happy to demonstrate on somebody elses bike!![]()
i realize this is gonna sound silly, but when has that stopped me before?
how the hell do you roll the throttle when yer hand is on the brake?
The only "intuitive" interface is the nipple.
now, see? this is the kind of A-1 information you can't get anywhere else but NESR!

It takes a little getting used to: ride with either your first two fingers or you last two finger over the brake lever, twist your wrist. The other two fingers will be griping the throttle. As you twist, allow the fingers on your brake lever to rotaate too, just make sure to keep a steady and even brake lever pressure.how the hell do you roll the throttle when yer hand is on the brake?
Like I said, it takes a little getting used to. It is also a skill you can practice that comes in handy at the track. By staying in the throttle while braking, you keep the spinning momentum of the engine up.

Speaking of tires, how long do you wait to replace them? I have 7500 miles on mine, the TWI markers aren't worn off I don't think, but there is barely any tread left in the middle of the rear tire. I did manage to wear off all the little "hairs" out on the edge of the tire.Man, i go threw 2 sets a season just normal riding,

If I wait till there is no tread left I assume the bike will be pretty dangerous in the rain?
The rear really seems to be wanting to flat spot now too, it's a little annoying.

Ben, there should be a raised wear bar across each tread perpendicular to the twi mark on the edge, if ya can't see it in the middle, then the tread must be completley gone there, if you still have stock MeZ4s, that means your awful close to cords in the center. you certainly want to be very careful riding in rain, 7500 was the BEST I ever got from a MeZ4 rear, the worse, 2500 (and there were cords coming thru), average, 4000-5000
