looking at some shark helmets on closeout. any opinions on them? run big or small? my scorpion is an xl and is a tad tight so i'd like to know before i order.
Shark is a quality lid. You won't find a thicker shield anywhere. Alot of my buddies wear them, but they just don't fit my head right. Definatly a wierd shape. I tended to find that they run small though.
I have never worn a scorpion, but I wear a med. Shark which was what I wore for my suomy and agv. Nice helmets too

just found some shoei's i like as well.... decisions.
Sharks are very similar to Scorpions in terms of sizing, although they seem to pack out a little more around the bottom. My well-used Scorpion is still a little tight to pull over my head but fits well once on; the same size Shark RSI is easier to pull over my head and fits perfectly once on.
The Shark is a much nicer helmet, by the way, although the Scorpion has a slight edge in venting, and the antifog coating on the inside of its visor works a little better than the Shark's. But the Shark is significantly lighter, the inside materials feel nicer against the skin, and the visor seals much better in the rain.

I think sharks run smiliar in size to other brands. My shark RSR2 was pretty tight when i got it last year but it has packed out just alittle. Its pros are that its very light, has great air flow and the sheild is thick. Only thing bad i can say about it is the the sheild mechanism has been a little annoying for me. Overall if you can get it for a good price on closeout(i did), i would go for it.
i have an early 700 i've had for atleast 5 years. its starting to come apart and after a long ride it starts to feel like its pulling at my scalp. i think the padding is just worn out. i to do find the venting great on it even though its starting to pull away from the shell.
i found some great deals on shoei and sharks so i will get one of those. shoei has a great rep so....
Where are said deals?
Sharks don't run weird sizes, your head is.
I find their sizing to be consistent with most other brands, I wear a L for street and a M for track.... I currently have 1 retired RSR and 3 RSR2's that I rotate between.
My favorite helmet of all time. Shoei is nice, but the quality of the Shark is unmatched IMO.
Bikebandit.com has some great Shark closeout deals right now too.

God those are some good prices, if only I had a bike right now I'd be all over replacing my 4 year old Shoei
I just bought my arai vector from them there a good site, although return policy is annoying. sharks have a much rounder shape than your scorpion, which fits similar to an arai vector, intermediate oval.
have one very nice lid but doesnt vent like my aria
but boy is it light and the visor is a sinch

well i got mine in. like the fit. nice and light. problem with the top of the inside vent shield thing keeps coming out, like they forgot to glue it. strap is stiff as hell but i'm hoping with time it will soften. overall i'm happy with a 500+ lid for half price.
