Ideally, I'd like to try on a L suomy, but... The local shop had a M in stock. It was too tight, to the point of biting my cheeks.
I wear a M in HJC (high end ones fit liek they should, low end ones, a bit on the loose side).
I have a M arai (dunno what cheek pads, but helmet fits pretty well - a little too round for me (it's the roundest shape they sell).
So... I'm afraid to order a L suomy without trying one. What have you gys noticed going from one to the other?
I wear a 7 1/8 fitted hat.
Which helmet is it?
I've read on Webbikeworld that the Vandal only has two shell sizes, check with the shop how it's spread out. They also say that it's sized a little smaller than others, and is narrow.
I'm guessing it's XS, S, M for one; and L, XL, XXL for the other.
I wore a M in my HJC, and got a large for my suomy. Fits great.

I got a Large in a suomy extreme and I also wear a medium in Arai Corsair RX-7. I believe my head is also 7 1/8. Your welcome to try my lid on if you would like. Not sure if you are going to be on the eastern side of the state any time soon. I will be at Motomart on April 3rd around noon. Hope that helps.
did it have the M cheek pads? i had to have different ones, from a L, put in my medium spec 1r. i'd recommend a weekend trip to Seacoast and get fitted up. not like i need to tell you but the Suomy feels quite snug for the first 300-500 miles. After that its perfect.

I found the suomy spec 1r extreme in medium fit me a a little tighter then a Arai Profile Medium. I think the suomy was a little bit tighter then the arai, I'd say bother helmets fit me very well, the suomy just a tid bit better than the arai.
I had a Medium HJC and Gmax had to go for a Large since they make their helmets fit like a glove ,the good thing is you can buy the padding a size smaller or larger to get just the right fit .but still recommend walking into a store and try it on .
I had this same issue with Suomy. I couldn't find one to try on as no local place carries them. My issue is this, I am not going to spend my money on something that is protecting my brain when I haven't ever tried it on. I will never, EVER, buy a lid that I haven't tried on first. It is the most important gear I have. If is doesn't fit correctly it is useless to me. I actually drove to RI just to try on Shark lids before buying from a friend that works for STG.com.

I think Seacoast might carry them. I have one size bigger than Arai/Shoei and really like the helmet.
I have a spec1 extreme in M. My last helmet was a M Icon. The Suomy is tighter (not overwhelming but its noticeable), but I imagine it will loosen up a little with time. Hope this helps.
I think that Seacoast Sport Cycle Derry NH is having a sale on Suomy this week ... I deleted their email alert ... I think it's this week ... talk to Pat ...
And don't believe everything you think.
Beware, once they break in, the become much larger. My Suomy is way too loose now after a year.....
Other than that, a GREAT helmet
