Hi,
Does anybody know how stringent the tech rules are for open test days?
I'm wondering if you're held to the full race specs or if they are more like the track day / Penguin rules.
I've never really paid attention b/c the bikes I've taken up there previously are race ready.
The bike I'm thinking about taking is technically sound / safe, but it hasn't been wired yet and I'm going to have to figure out a belly-pan solution. I was planning on taking care of those details on Thursday after the test session or Friday.

I've never run open test Thursday, but from what I've heard it's pretty laid back and lightly attended.
I'm sure they don't want someone messing up the track with fluids, so wire the oil bits, replace the coolant with water and wire the cap.
I don't think anyone would complain about wheels / brakes not being wired for open test, but I'm completely guessing.
I assume you need a license for this?
Correct. Opened to licensed racers per NHMS.
Technically this says stuff would need to be safety wired... Like I said, I haven't been.Participants must hold a racing license from a sanctioning body and conform to all safety regulations set by that sanctioning body. Cost: $150/day or $100/half-day starting at 1 p.m. (plus $10 gate fee).
Yeah, I agree it would be better to have the oil bits wired. Not 100% sure I can get to that though. But I'm also thinking that there are people out there during Friday practice without any wire at all (this bike has been one of those as a matter of fact) b/c people at PRS aren't necessarily on wired bikes....

Friday practice isn't the same as Thursday...
Say more... I almost decided to do open test Thursday rather than Friday practice. What are the differences? (not being a jerk just and idiot).
Ping NHMS and ask them for the details as they run it vs Penguin on Friday.
As far as I know, you should comply with LRRS tech inspection rules to run Open Test. Certainly, you should not be going out on Thursday without fluid containment wired and in place(belly pan). Don't be that guy, who dumps oil or coolant during a nice day of practice.

Glad to see someone else will be there. Degsy is coming with me to do suspension setup, I'll be there Wednesday night in 11N.
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
According to an email exchange I had with Brenda, bike needs to be "race ready" for Thursday open test.
is it worth gettin a license just to do these days>? i wouldnt be able to race but ill take anytime on the track.
or would i be a squid !?
Squid? IDK.
License itself (for the entire year) is $125 me thinks.
You can do open test Thursdays for $160, or afternoon only for $110. You can do Friday practice with Penguin for $150.
I guess it also depends on what you are looking for in track time.
I wanna say that there's some rule somewhere about having to enter some minimum number of races per season to keep your license, but couldn't find it quickly. Maybe I'm mis-remembering.
Also, you could do the Penguin Learn to Fly Practice, for $700 and use for all 7 Friday practices, reducing the cost from $150/day to $100/day.

You are gridded by overall points.
There is no qualifying.
If points are equal, then by entry order.
Steve will show you after the mock start.
Have your licensing application filled out before hand. I strongly suspect someone else already has theirs filled out.
Stop giving the kid tips. You're supposed to be on my side!
I didn't fill out his license application for him. (I might have given him some information on racer numbers though).
