2001? Honda TRX90
This thing always ran fine, then one day a kid came in and said it wasn't shifting right. It drops right into first, but wont really go into second. If you push really hard you can get it to shift. Downshifting is equally difficult. You can get it to shift, but it takes multiple tries and doesn't shift well at all.
Research says usually it is the star shaped shift pattern part that wears, the bolt is loose, or the clutch needs to be adjusted. see here:
I pulled this thing all apart and everything looked fine, the star was fine, and the bolt wasn't loose. I adjusted the clutch, turning in until contact, then backing out 1/8 turn and tightening the jam nut. STILL shifts poorly. Seems to shift a little better, but the shifter still hangs up, when downshifting Ill have to pull up a little, and can feel it kind of reset, then I can downshift again.
No clue how this thing went from shifting fine to shifting like crap.
Anyone run into this before?
Perhaps this might help .
