I'm talkin' brandy new here. And REASONABLE. Let's say AROUND $10K. If you could buy a bike today, what would it be? Let's base it on '03 or '04 models only. No dream bikes, exotics, race bikes, or longed-for classics. Honest to goodness, everyday rider-type bikes. What wouldjya get? Why?
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I would buy Tully's bikeNo, seriously, I want an R6 after sitting on Bryan's at your house. It was the best feeling bike I have sat on yet. I just love the color schecme of Marks. I would have to buy a new helmet to match, but I already got the black leathers thanks to Mick!

Getting back into the game! Looking for my next bike!
under $10k...
V-Strom. the reasons are obvious... Adventure bikes are multi purpose, long suspension travel for rough roads, gobs of power, especially low & midrange where it is so important on the street, and a motor with proven reliability even when the front wheel is filled with helium.
a new bike is getting close to reality for me, and until a few weeks ago, the V-strom was my first choice.. but a preview of my company profit & loss report is telling me I might be able to spend a little more

I think I'd get an '04 Interceptor with ABS and hard bags.
Then again maybe I'd just get the new R1 and start wearing shorts and flipflops![]()

I concur, the SV1000 is probably the bike I would choose right now, although if I wanted to run the twisties on the street (or track for that matter) the '03 R6 is so far ahead of the competition it isn't even funny. Hands down the R6 will beat any liter bike in the twisty stuff.Originally posted by Jankster

I bought my z1000 new last may and I would buy it again tomorrow.....I've never ridden a bike with more of a fun factor. IMO it is the best street bike around...it might not be the "BEST" of everything but it does everything very well....speed, handling, brakes, ergos, looks...'cept for the ugly pipes

I love my R6 and would never trade it. But, if I HAD to go with another bike I would like to give the 600rr a try. That's only if I had to....

Definitely something naked, good to ride on those hot days when the VFR wind protection & hot engine are too much.
- Some kind of super-motard? KTM Duke? (Used I assume if it's gotta be under $10k)
- Another SV650 or SV1000 (definitely naked)
- A fairly light dual-sport.
- Possibly a triumph tiger or other adventure tourer that I could get under $10k.
Someone mentioned getting a VFR with ABS and bags... you can't get an 04 ABS w/bags for $10k but you definitely ought to be able to find a leftover 03 and wheel and deal. You might have to give up the ABS though. I think you're a lot less likely to find a leftover with ABS.
