Spend around $7.5K for a brand new Kawasaki ZRX1200R (now available in silver, not sure if I like it), buy the jet kit and canister on it (Kerker perhaps?) to get it to 132RWHP, and take the $1500 leftover and buy a Corbin Lady Gunfighter seat for the wifey, some bags, Givi windscreen and two extra set of race tires for the fun you will have tossin it around at the three trackdays you will be able to afford (including one NESR trackday if the guy runnin it charges you full price
)
ALL YOURS, for under 10K, brand new!!!
And if you are feelin nice, pick me up one too, I'm halfway there with the $$$$, but I start bein unemployed in two weeks....![]()

why is R6 the only hands down in beating 1k in twisties? i thought 600ss are so close in performance and handling that it doesn't make much difference other than styling.
i'd buy 636 again.![]()
"fuckit!"
I don't think he was saying it's the ONLY 600 that would. But for the everyday, typical sportbike rider, the new 600's would be FAR better suited for tight STREET stuff. The new generation liter bikes have far too much power to use it effectively to it's advantage on tight, twisty stuff. Of course, we're talking about the AVERAGE rider here. There are naturally, exceptions to the rule. But 'normal everyday use' are the types of bikes I was asking about originally...Originally posted by Kham

Me, I'm still kinda stuck on what I'd get. I have more streetbike than I need with my TL-R, and I couldn't be happier with it. Even with it's inherent little quirks, it's still the favorite bike I've even owned. And it's the ONLY vehicle of mine that I wouldn't sell...
But I long for a bike similar to the mid-90's VFR's. I guess the closest thing to that would be the NEW VFR's, but I don't like 'em. I'd want something that *I* consider to be a sport-tourer, and those older VFR's fit the bill FOR ME perfectly. More sport than tourer, but still comfy enough for two to be on all honkin' weekend long...
THAT'S what I'm waiting for. Although if I HAD to get something right now for AROUND $10K, it'd most likely be the new ZX10R. Just because...![]()

im just wondering why degsy picked R6 over 600RR or 636. that's all.

'03 Daytona 600, just cause it looks comfy, and it's kinda GROWIN ON ME![]()
The 600rr (like the F4i) and the 636 need some major tweaking to handle correctly for really twisty stuff and racing. The R6 handles right out of the box.Originally posted by Kham

Now, I'm not trying to be mean here, BUT if your 636 was an R6 you MIGHT not have had that spill you had, worth thinking about.
derek
I have often thought about a new ride, but always come full circle!
HONDA SUPERHAWK- The Rodney Dangerfield of sport bikes
1) More of an upright riding position than the repli-racers
2) Enough HP and torque for two-up or luggage carry
3) You can't BEET the "streetability" of a twin
4) Semi-naked!
5) Still a decent bike for the occasional track-day(some after market goodies can really change that!)
6) I picked up my bike for $8250 as a leftover (cash)!
7) All that Honda goodness
8) Overlooked which makes it a rarity( there have been many times that I would have the only VTR1000 on a crowded night at Lowell Bike Night as wellas other times).
9)The seat and bike itself is narrow, more so than F2 I sold(almost dirt-bike-like)
10) Can certainly hold it's own in the twisties when up against the quick in-lines!
I still love the smell of burnt racing fuel in the morning!

I concur, the SV1000 is probably the bike I would choose right now, although if I wanted to run the twisties on the street (or track for that matter) the '03 R6 is so far ahead of the competition it isn't even funny. Hands down the R6 will beat any liter bike in the twisty stuff.

I'd get a 1000RR. I'd don't know what the new release price is going to be, but the thing is supposedly very insain.
