    Just got back from the hospital and Mike is doing great. Went up some stairs on crutches so hopefully he'll be headed home soon. Not a fun night, but I'm glad he's lucky. It could have been a lot worse.

    isnt there something in the safety books that it's not illegal to speed to avoid a potential dangerous situation? i hope these citations get dropped, especially where he was struck from the rear

    Thanks for the wishes everybody! I just got in from the hospital, and am doing pretty well considering. I just got the citations in the mail and am definitely going to fight these, there is no way I can see them sticking at all. I definitely didn't slide hundreds of feet either. It's amazing how the newspapers exaggerate the story on these things. I guess the impact on the other vehicle was on the side and to the rear, so I didn't T-bone them like you would have expected. The didn't take the turn at a 90 degree angle, instead they cut the turn early and still had forward motion in my direction upon impact. I'm hoping that with that small detail I can make what ever decision the insurance companies make in my favor. I may also need to look into a good lawyer for motorcycle accidents if any one knows of one.
