Today I rode the FZ1 (Gen 1 carb'd) around Central MA, 217 miles, I often ride many of the same roads, long passages without lights or stop signs, early in the week there's often less traffic, and in July with so many away on vacation, even less. A stop in Petersham for coffee, quiet on the green, then up 122 to 202 and down the west side of the Quabbin, very few cars, did come up on a garbage truck, so I pulled over in New Salem and let a few cars pass, then caught up to him again so I detoured up into Shutesbury for a break. Rode through Quabbin Park (good news, the toilets at the tower are open again after pandemic closing). East on 9, north on 148 to 122 to Barre, 62 to Princeton and Sterling ... through Harvard and Littleton Depot, Acton, Carlisle, Concord, and a few miles blasting east on MA 2, and home before 3. Great bike, love riding it.

And don't believe everything you think.
They must have just opened those toilets
I was there a month ago and they were still closed.
I took the guzzi to Syracuse for the summer Nationals this weekend. Mostly took 20 out there which was nice. Saw a total of like 8 bikes the entire time, must have been too hot for most. I know I was struggling with the daily heat. Came back on 5\5s then caught 20 again just to save some time. Total of about 1000 miles over 3 days.
I must have just missed you. I was on the NSR.
Went down to Shanks next door for wife’s bday dinner on Saturday.
4oz / 8oz lobster rolls were similarly priced, but I got fish tacos.
As for riding, today I rode the SMT a whopping 2.4 miles, from storage in my parents to my new house, in hopes of riding it to work tomorrow.
Where's your new place Matt?
Couple of rides this past weekend, 200 miles Saturday morning on the Guzzi 850, out 119 to 32 south past Tully Lake and into Central MA, lots of nice pavement and empty roads. Some bridge work in Athol, so I got to see some new detour routes there, and a mile of crawling traffic on 2A, then sailing down 32. Pic of my usual stop in Princeton MA, a Kymco rider pulled up, we had a good chat.
Sunday morning I took the SRX250 out for a couple of hours on local roads, what a fun bike, all sorted now. Pic shows a closed up food stop in downtown Carlisle MA, was the only show in town, now you'd have to go 5+ miles for coffee, food or a cold drink. It was a good place, had lots of business from landscapers, builders, bicyclists, school kids, etc. A news write-up cited "lease issues" for the closure -- rent hike?

I'm on vacation from work this week, and just a bike again after a couple years without one. 2005 Vulcan 1600 Classic; my first non-sport bike, and boy is she comfy.
I rode up to my mother's place in Corinth, VT earlier in the week. Bombed 93N to route 3, split off at route 4, then 25 all the way to her house. 298 miles as a reintroduction back into touring.
Had my morning open today, so I did the local to me 133/127 loop listed on the best of the north east page. Pretty nice cruise considering there's no commute to it for me.
My wife is going to the cape with her mom this weekend, so I'm on dog duty. I want to get a trip out west planned. Do the north Adams loop. Haven't had lunch at a hairpin in a long, long time.
My goal is to wear out the tires that came on the bike this season. Put it away bald, and get fresh rubber in the spring.
sounds like a plan.... think you may already have more miles this year than my sorry ass, between work and 100 degree days i'm getting no riding in..

Yeah, the mileage is about to slow down. Back to work on Monday for me. Which, luckily, isn't a terrible ride down 125 towards Wilmington.
I've been away from bikes for so long, that I'm straight up commuting on it. The Subaru is getting dusty in the driveway.
It's helps the thing has floor boards, a full windscreen and the P.O. dropped the coin on a Mustang seat. She's comfy.
Welcome, new guy!
Last weekend I rode the Honda 919 for the first time since I crashed it 2 years ago, put about 30 miles on it for a shakedown run, grabbed a tag while I was at it.
Whynot, how are you liking that V7-850? I’ve been ogling those for a bit; wasn’t able to get to either of the Guzzi demo days in CT last month.

I'm likin' the Guzzi. The V7 850 is a different animal from previous V7s. This one runs and sounds so good with the OEM Arrow exhaust. Simple and reliable, easy to maintain and ride etc. Steel tank, range is around 275 miles +/-
Seating-ergos are somewhere between sport and cruiser, hard to pin down. Not a light bike, but feels good with low CG. I'm riding it the most, will probably put the FZ1 up for sale soon.
Does Hamlin offer test rides?

You know what stings more than unexpectedly buying a tire midway through your ride?
Repeatedly telling your friends it would last the whole trip.
Shop was great and let me borrow a 15mm socket, impact, and torque wrench so I could remove/install the wheel myself and avoid additional labor. SSS & centerstand FTW!
Analog maps were used.
2k total miles with nonstop views like this.

MABDR is a laid back and mostly relaxing ride on a mix of ridge and forest roads, farmland and VA/WV hollers. It's nothing difficult by any means (even the few expert sections are not that hard). Granted it's been since 2019 since I've run the whole thing, I know they changed quite a bit in section 1 last year. But it's fun and very beautiful riding through the PA/MD/WV/VA countryside regardless.
As a side note, the expert sections on the PA Wilds BDR-X are a HUGE departure from those on the MABDR. We did Paddy Mountain Trail at the end of the 2nd day after some serious rain storms and it was extremely rugged; rocks the size of dinner plates, massively washed out and a literal river of water running down the trail. It's lucky we were going north (downhill) because I think I would have turned around trying to go the other way. It's worse than CR3 on the NEBDR, which is arguably the most difficult section of the entire NEBDR.
NEBDR is much more challenging, although being a New Englander it's not quite as easy to get excited about riding in your own back yard vs riding far away from home on the MABDR. That said the expert sections are much more varied in difficulty and more rewarding. The section from the Mass border up to Readsboro VT is probably my favorite as it has some really nice dirt stretches and some very fun technical sections (like October Mountain and the section down from Raycroft Lookout to the VT border), it makes for a great loop with Trans-MA Trail or Alt. NEBDR does get boring through NH though, as it's primarily just easy dirt and lots of pavement sight seeing.
