If anyone knows any decent legal trails or unmaintained roads in the area and wants to share them, please do. Or if anyone knows a more fun route in the area than the TMT. The bike is ohv registered.
i grew up camping at Macadonia Brook State Park, great spot off Rt 7 in Kent. i love that whole upper corner from there north to Great Barrington. used to live out there in Lee and work in Monterey. tons of nice backroads between the two areas. if you focus ~NWCT, Kent has great lunch spots and cool atmosphere. prob won't want to go much further south.
BUT, for some 501 ADV action, try to get a GPS from the "Best of the Berks ADV" ride that went down last wknd. 80 route more towards Otis, but might have some nice nugs to hit.
otherwise the state forests in the SWMA area are fun if you have OHV. October Mountain, Beartown, Pittsfield.
EDIT: forgot to mention that you can camp at October but it's a crappy little area. only benefit is you can jam right out of the campground, right on Woodland then up Schermerhorn and explore anything from dirt roads to seriously rocky singletrack.

Re: Where did you ride today?
This was kind of last minute and now I’m realizing its Memorial Day weekend and all the campgrounds I was thinking of are full… Might just have to make it a day trip and try again next weekend. Still a few more campground to check out, we shall see…
EDIT: Found a campsite quite a ways away from what I initially intended, but it’ll do as a base camp.

Re: Where did you ride today?
A brisk 40 degrees when I shoved off this morning. Temps soared to 50 by the time I rolled into the shop...

Re: Where did you ride today?
I rode yesterday to my doc appointment in Portsmouth, stopped at Rochester Motorsports to get my scooter inspected, and today, dropping off my K-pipe for inspection & new tires and picking up my UTV at the same time.

Yeah this week is a too cold (for me) 40s in the morning, but a gorgeous 60s in the afternoon.
Next week is a more acceptable 50s in the morning, but a more SWASS 80s in the afternoon.

50 is my normal cut-off this time of year. But the last cling-on's car is in the shop and I felt like being a nice guy and let him use my truck the last couple days. The Corvette won't be on the road for another couple weeks, so I sucked it up.

Re: Where did you ride today?
I plan on taking the KZ to the car show at the Polish-American club in Gardner later this afternoon,, give it some exercise.

Re: Where did you ride today?
Rode the 501 a couple hours west to the only campsite I could find on short notice: the KOA. I’m mostly a state park camper and was not quite prepared for all of… this. BUT I will be spending as much of tomorrow as possible hunting down dirt trails and unmaintained roads, downloaded a few gpx tracks as backup plans. Camping tomorrow night too and home Sunday morning. Giant Loop Coyote, Rogue, small tank bag, and Klim Nak Pak were able to fit a comfortable setup, and I hardly noticed they were there.

Re: Where did you ride today?
Ended up doing a couple of loops from the Berkshire 500, plus a lot of wandering around. Put a solid 300+ miles on the bike, had a great time. Did some October Mountain trails too, and ran into a few BDR riders, 4 on 7/890s and one on a WR of some kind. Overall great day, despite some major gps difficulties.

Re: Where did you ride today?
too frickin hot to do and sawmilling today, went for a ride, everybody else had the same idea, north on 153 was a 35mph train most dropped off by the time I got to Province Lake, that was a mad house, the whole length of the beach packed, cars, trucks, bikes, motorhomes, parked on both sides of 153
stopped at the Ossipee River boat launch in Effingham. talked with a guy there in a 1930 Model A Ford, he tries to drive it every weekend, 100mile minimum, all original, still has mechanical brakesAttachment 59557
ride back, I headed toward Kezar Falls, and took Rt 160 south, a lot better condition than the last time I was on it, to Rt 11 to Rt 110 back to 153 south

Re: Where did you ride today?
Rode to Boston today to get some eclairs from Mike's on Hanover St. crazy mad downtown, tourists just walk out in the street without looking, i have some horns from a famous Italian maker of cars installed in the bike which made quite an impression on them, lol.
ON the ride in i was behind an SUV in the left lane that was intent on staying there so i went around, in the drivers seat was a cute girl with both legs on the dash while she practicing her oral skills on a popsicle,, the shit you see on the road nowadays.

Put 90-something miles on the DR790 in sumo guise this afternoon to go grab a photo tag on ADV.
Went with a Memorial Day theme for the new tag

Re: Where did you ride today?
Not today but yesterday did the southern end of DDR, including the expert section...which was tough! The 890R got through unscathed and relatively drama free, while my buddy on a 1290 struggled pretty good and broke a few parts. Then decided to forego the admittedly small bike only roads we planned on and hit the NEBDR instead, getting to the top of Raycroft Lookout in Florida MA.
BTW the 890R is a fuckin rockstar. It's SO much easier to ride gnarly stuff than my 1290 was.

Re: Where did you ride today?
Among other things we decided to take a spin up north of Plymouth (NH) via backroads to hit one of a few lunch spots we like up there. We didn't know two of them aren't open on Sunday. The third place was WAY too packed, so we headed back south and grabbed some vittles at Tilton Diner. It was a short trip - only about 150 miles for the day, but the weather was incredible. We were far enough inland & north so that humidity had absolutely no bearing on the heat. My bike's infotainment system was reading 90 degrees even in Plymouth. Again, next to no humidity though. I'll take that every day of the week!

Doesn't that always make you go :scratchhead: Why would a popular lunch place close on a Sat/Sun?!? :dunno:
I get closing Mon-Tues, but the weekend? A sunny holiday weekend, at that...

It's really not all that uncommon that far north. There's even a couple places more local to me that are closed Sundays now too. Small towns, not a lot of traffic, staffing issues, blah-blah-blah. It sometimes changes once certain seasons pick up.

Rode the 100 mpg commute scoot to work today
Attachment 59575
108 miles on the trip meter, 1.07 gallons to fill.
Usually I get a little closer to 115 mpg, must be the winter gas still in it

I used to get 100+mpg with my K-pipe routinely before I evaporated the oil in the original 125cc, now, with 190cc, it's a gas pig, 65mpg at best, only 40mpg on my ride up & down Mt. washington

Holy shit! What's your commute like? Roads/speeds/traffic/distance, etc.?
-
Re: Where did you ride today?
About 11-14 miles, 20-25 minutes, depending on which route I take. Backroads with 25-45mph speed limits.
It’s a Monkey 125, basically a Grom in retro styling. >100mpg is pretty standard for these 125’s

Re: Where did you ride today?
I'm fresh off of four days of riding at Palmer. Three regular TTD days and one Non-Sportbike day... FAAAAANTASTIC weather! Holy crap! And SO few tip-overs... everyone had a great time.
Back in the home office today but I think I might go ride Hodges this afternoon when I call it quits.

Yeah, I know what they are. Just floored at the MPG! I was more curious about the commuting distance & speed and things like that.
They look fun as shit! Unfortunately I don't think it'd work for my application. How's the fit on you?

I think I've been averaging 66mpg in my z125. Is there really that big of a MPG disparity between the two 125s or am I just riding the snot out of mine...yeah probably riding the snot out of mine...

How big is your tank, my K-Pipe is 1.1gallons. When my fuel gauge is down (from 5 bars) to one bar flashing, it takes 0.77± gallons to fill, ever since I replaced the original blown 125cc with the 190cc, my fuel economy sucks, I'm filling up every 50 miles

I had a Z125 a couple years ago, I think I got about 90mpg with it.
I had an OG Grom before that with intake/exhaust/PC, it got around 100mpg i think on Premium.
The Monkey is stock engine and had a 1.5 gallon tank. Seems like the last bar starts flashing at around 0.5 gallons left (PO installed an aftermarket speedometer though). Yesterday I filled up at 107 miles and put in 1.00 gallons.

depending the speeds, i get 100 MPG on my Grom. if i'm in the country roads with it redlined in final gear the entire time, i'll still get about 80 MPG

Re: Where did you ride today?
I mentioned it in another thread, but on Sunday I got out on a bike for the first time after injuring my knee about 6 weeks ago. It did not feel great, but it also wasn’t too bad and my knee has only been aching slightly more than usual in the days since. For a while I had thought I was done riding for the season and would have to cancel my multi-day august trip, but now I think I’ll be ok for it. Good enough, at least.
My actual ride was just an hour-ish tour of local dirt roads, many of which have been completely washed away and replaced by rivers or streams since the last time I was out. It felt great to be on two wheels again.

Re: Where did you ride today?
Did about 200 miles of scouting (350 total miles for the day) for my Dirty Dog Route. All the back roads in VT were in surprisingly good shape, although some were quite bumpy. Only ran into a few road closed signs, but being on a motorcycle makes that mostly a non-issue.

Re: Where did you ride today?
Did a nice +/- 200 mile loop from & to the house Saturday. A friend had never been up to the Kancamagus & he had his heart set on it. I absolutely despise the Kanc & everything to & from during the weekends, but I bit my tongue and led the charge after warning everyone of traffic.
We managed to skirt a good deal of traffic by taking the backroad up to Conway. From there it was just a couple miles south to the Kanc & traffic really wasn't all that bad on that stretch. The Kanc was the Kanc and nobody in front of us would even get up to the speed limit. Nice scenery as always, but boring as fuck for riding. We made a couple scenic stops along the highway for picture opp's and made our way to Lincoln.
Once again we had a great lunch at Pub 32 Pizza (Exit 32 Pizza), then made our way down Route 3 to Route 132 in Ashland. Traffic in Lincoln was surprisingly pretty thin, it was almost eerie. Took Route 132 down to Tilton for one more pit stop, then we all made our own way home from there.
Wrapped it up with a couple beers at the farm next door and amazed myself at how much fresh produce we were able to fit in my saddlebags. Just about 200 miles, but with all the stops it took a better part of the day. I managed a few pics up on the pass but I'm too lazy to post them from my phone.

Re: Where did you ride today?
Heading to Touratech Dirtdaze tomorrow, planning to stay for the whole thing. Anyone else going/in the area? Looks like I may get rained on a little, hopefully not too bad.
