maine routes

I'm heading to bar harbor tommorrow from wrentham(ma) with a few freinds from out of town. From there we plan on spending a day or two traveling around maine. and finally heading back home on monday.

Anyone know of some great roads to travel while in maine?
If you could PM me with some route numbers that would be great.

Im from maine! Heading up the highway, you can take the costal route... I think 1, but it will most likely be a lot of traffic. If you stay on the highway to bangor then head to BH that way it would be better traffic wise, but a lot more highway miles.

When you are in Bar Harbor, make sure you check out Acadia National Park. Hop on the Loop road, and go to the top of cadillac mountain. Its a good ride, with a lot of twistys.

edit: sorry I dont know the route #'s, I never really looked.

Watch for cops between bangor and bar harbor.

Its out of the way, but driving through carabasset valley and stratton up to the coburn gore canada crossing would be ridiculous on a bike

yeah 1A is nice, along the river from bangor down, route 201 up to jackman then over to moosehead on 15 is nice too

Ride to Sugarloaf USA

Any of the three numbered roads going north to south ending on the coast.

Cadillac Mountain ... but watch out for park rangers ... after supper is best.

Just watch out for the friggen moose, they are all over the damn place.

sugarloaf to coburn gore is rediculous. I have never done it on a bike though.
