The good part of the Day was Great! Very sad event occured on a certain road in Western Mass. One person wound up in the local Emergency room, but that person is doing very well, and should be just about home now! Bike is going to need some work though! Deffinately fixable! Very sad to see this happen to such beautifull bikes, but they ALL will be pretty again in no time! All are running, but will need some TLC... Everyone walked away with minor injuries? I think? Who was that on the R1 ?? I never did get your name? Hope your wrist is alright, It looked pretty bad! How is everyone else? Get home well everyone??

I feel guilty now getting such a nice run all the way to the end on "That Crash road" Only to get a gut wenching feeling while turning and heading back to find three downed friends...

No lectures from me, and no more details, it all in the hands of the parties involved! No citations were issued either!

Clay: A certain someone wants the pics of the crash site and bike. Not sure this person is on NESR or not yet?? Someone can get you the e-mail to send them. I too would like to see..

Yikes! I just went riding with James from Quincy yesterday (he has a blue R1)..He said he was going on this ride..

yeah that was me on the R1. Great day up until that corner. I feel stupid, stupid, stupid.

Hope that everyone else is OK.

Bike's trashed - and my wrist stings pretty badly - but a busted chicken wing is far better than what could have happened.

Thanks to everyone for getting it running again and for the tank of gas to get me home. 3rd gear from there to the seacoast of NH with no pegs.

(sigh)

Makes me evaluate riding, that's for sure.

Couple rolls of duct tape and that R1 is just fine!

It happens to all riders eventually. No matter how good a rider you are, it will happen. Sand happens. It could have been a LOT worse.

Brent I need some help replacing the valve seals on my bike you interested?

Sukka's.....................glad everyone is all right from the 3 crashes from yesterday. That sucked coming around that corner seeing bikes and bodies strewn across the road.

Clayton send me those pic's will you? We must do those roads again. That was anawesome ride. I heart off camber decreasing radius turns!!!!!

Well that was an interesting first ride with you guys!
I'm definately down to do it again though (minus the crashes).
I'm going away this week, but will keep an eye open for any rides next weekend.

I know that road. One of our members nearly lost his RC51 in a sandy curve there on a group ride in June. Could be the same one...

Holy shit. I know EXACTLY which one your talking about (I think) 8A north of 116 but still South of Rt2 right? Somewhere near the helicopter? I remember its just as you come out of a good section, and there is a house with a big yard on the left.

I came across a big patch there too (if its the same place) The pace wasn't fast-fast, but we were moving. Came over the crest and banked right. Noticed a huge sand "puddle" directly in my line. There were no cars coming and I straightened up and rode over it then leaned it over real hard to get back in line.

There was no way for anyone in line to warn about the sand because of the hill and turn combination.

I allways hate to hear about stuff like this happening. Fell better!

Yeah, that's the curve I was thinking about, Greg. Right-hander at the bottom of the hill, once the road leveled off. Would have thought the sand would have been cleaned up/washed away by now though.

It has been clean since then! My run in with it was June 5th. I have been up there twice since then, but not in the past 3-4 weeks or so I think, and it was clean. Looks like it just collects there?

That is an Ugly corner. Didn't nearly lose it there, but it was certainly "interesting"

Maybe someone should volunteer to go out the day before a ride (any ride) with a broom and go over the general route. Look for sand patches like that and sweep them away

No, but I know that corner your taking about is questionable all the time, This turn where the incedent happened is on the north side of 2A and 112 a mile up from the closed covered bridge along the river.
