that hooks up nicely w/ what I'm packing...Originally posted by Stoneman
WEATHER UPDATE: *All* the local weather goons up here are saying nice and mostly sunny tomorrow (Thursday)!
I guess I'm gonna hafta mostly agree with 'em on this one. However *I'm* calling for some very scattered, very light rain/drizzle tomorrow morning, followed by some overcast. *I* think the afternoon is gonna shape up nicely w/ a complete turn around, temps wise. Look for it to be cool & just a *BIT* damp in the early hours. But it'll clear up and temps will get into the 60's by early afternoon, MAYBE the low 70's by the end of the day...
That's *MY* story, and I'm sticking to it! You'll see...![]()

To help address all the emails I get from people regarding getting into the track before 7 AM on Thursday...
I really have nothing to do with it.
The track management has graciously allowed my instructors and myself to get in early to set up.
I then started adding a few special cases to the list if I felt it wasn't overstepping.
Once a few people heard of favors I had done... the requests to get in the night before started getting out of hand.
Bottom line is that I am not comfortable approaching the track owners for any more special priveledges.
If anyone wishes to contact the track directly and give them their story... so be it.
It's between you and the track owners... leave me out of it, please.
I just can't afford to step on any toes and have them revoke the priveledge of getting my "team" in the night before to set up. If that happens, then we will probably lose at least an hour of track time in the morning.
Hope this clears things up.
I don't want to sound like a prick, and I try to acommodate people whenever possible... but I figured if I explained things to everyone here, it might cut down on the number of individual emails I have to reply to.
(I swear... I need to start an automated reply system for the emails I get)![]()
Here's a small sample that I seem to get before EVERY date...
I ride a kawhonsuz 257... Which group do you think I should ride in?
Do I have to wire my bike?
Do I have to drain my antifreeze?
Will insurance cover my bike if I crash?
I'm afraid to crash... do you think I will?
Do I need a full face helmet?
Will one tank of gas be enough?
What kind of tape should I use to cover my lights?
How do I get the tape off after track day?
I was going to sign up, but I don't know how to take my mirrors off... can you do that for me when I get there?
I know it says your full, but me and 3 friends just got the day off... can we come?
I'm a very good rider... can I ride in my group and in my friends group so I can help them?
NOTE: If you see your question above... don't take offense. It just means I answered it a bunch of times and it's probably on the website. Or it's one of those questions that is unanswerable.

NOTE TO SELF... add these to the FAQ section of the website.
NOTE 2: If you are one of the few people that emailed me this week and I already said I would get you in for this date... you are all set.
Thanks for putting on these trackdays Tony!
You Rock!!!

Anytime after 7 am... we go on track at 9 AM.
If you're looking to cornerwork, you would need to sign up early... around 8.
Meeting at my place in the morning is only gonna hamper getting everyone outta there on time. I'd say the best bet is to shoot right over to the track...Originally posted by wastedincome420

This may be patently obvious to everyone else, but justif you're as slow as I am. Some of our bikes mirrors are designed to be part of the structure that holds the front fairing/windshield on. Meaning if you're going to take your mirrors off, you're going to want bolts to go in their place. Not a big deal if you realize it early, but I doubt there are too many hardware stores all that close to the track

I don't have to ride down by myself...
RoadRider and I will be leaving N.Woodstock around 530am...YIKES!!! Someone have coffee for me at the track?!!
I am getting nervous and excited. Been visualizing the track in my head from when I did some track walks. Wahoo!!
So see everyone tomorrow!![]()
Getting back into the game! Looking for my next bike!
good point. keep in mind, tho, that-- if that's the case, and ya don't have replacement bolts-- the site says it's OK to tape mirrors and fold 'em in, if possible...Originally posted by Honclfibr

Beth... I know whatcha mean. I've been finding myself psyched at odd times all day today. 1st ever track day... my "riding" on the track has been limited to short, slow jaunts to/from whatever corner I'm working... been looking forward to tomorrow for, oh, a coupla years now...![]()

i'm feeling a little anxious/nervous too. i've done about 6 or 7 track days now, but i still get butterflies. i usually settle down once i'm out on the bike. looking forward to meeting everyone![]()
the only normal people are the ones you don't know very well.
Couple of things...
Mirrors: Zip ties will also keep things in place if you don't have bolts. You can leave your mirrors on as long as they are taped over. I suggest removing more for the crashing aspect... one less thing to buy.![]()
Keep in mind it may be raining in the morning (before 7 AM). If you are riding up in the morning be sure to keep your riding gear dry. Otherwise it will be dry and sunny when you get on the track, but you'll be stuck wearing WET GEAR!
Hmm...garbage bags for the ride down?...i only have one set...crap-o-la...
Getting back into the game! Looking for my next bike!
Hey all,
I'm taking Brent's (aka oreo) trackday spot tomorrow, so looking forward to seeing you guys there.

Anyone with bike troubles: get to the track with your bike, there are tons of racers/mechanics there to get you going.
