I sent the group, which Steve CCed a photo of my bike with the new paint to see what he says. Man, I hope it's acceptable.

I sent Steve the following photo and this was his reply:

With this setup you will need numbers on both sides (the backup scoring
camera will not see this number well), it does look like 6' numbers will
    fit.

Re: 2011 LRRS Rulebook is out

that's bullshit. they print the rule book so EVERYONE can see the rules. if someone hasn't raced before, like me, then I would never get that email and not hearing it second hand I would have no idea. had I known this I woulda done the plate above the intake but we were going by the rule from every prior year.

If there are changes made to the rulebook then those changes should he posted somewhere (like the lrrs site) as soon as they are finalized. Nothing like getting the rulebook a month before racing and being surprised by something major.
If this was your rookie season the only rulebook you would've had access to this winter would've been last years.
I don't understand why a number plate on the left wouldn't be visible.

2010 rulebook very clearly stated 4" front on left side if there was not enough room for a center placing. Also stated very clearly 4" on rear.

Re: 2011 LRRS Rulebook is out

In my case, I don't even have the right color painted for Novice, so I'm just going to do what I was originally going to do, and that's a single plate, using white vinyl.

I will also cut a left plate in case they tell me I need it.

I'll worry about the paint when I bump.

Everyone is playing by the rules KB. The rules just changed with 3 weeks to go until the first race weekend. Also, there is an emailed set of rules, a PDF set of rules and an interpreted case by case set of rules. That's where the problem lies.

For those who did not get the email yesterday, there was a link to the PRE-PRINT 2011 rulebook, which I posted in the first post of this thread.

When I contacted LRRS officials, Steve Baron informed me that the rule for the single, left-hand number, which had been fine for the 2010 season, was a misprint.

He told me that it should read to be a requirement of a number plate on BOTH SIDES of the front of the upper, so the backup scoring station could read the numbers. Obviously, this is somewhere on the outside of the course.

The issue is that this came out with only 3 weeks to go until the first flag drops on the 2011 season and most people have either their paint from last season, or have new paint. Those who went by last season's guidelines, had a single, left-hand number plate.

    Get it now, KB?

FYI - The backup video camera is past the start finish line, on the outside fence up high, looking back at the Start/Finish

I got fifty bucks says the tech inspectors will not be measuring your number height or spacing with a ruler. Just saying.

Try fitting 888 on an r6 tail in anything over 5"

You can attach the plastic plates.

Fyi, I have a tiny tail this year and I am hoping for 4 inch numbers as well but I will put the biggest that will fit.
