    Kurlon needs a trailer

So... as you might be able to guess from the pic... my trailer has decided to go on permanent vacation. The frame failed in a couple spots.

Needless to say I need to replace it. I need a trailer for general cargo duty, mainly trash/brush etc from around the house, and I need a bike hauler. Up till now this unit has done double duty. I'd like to go all aluminum so I don't have to worry about rust any more which pushes me in to the low to high $2000s range for a basic landscaping trailer.

    I'd prefer an enclosed...

Anyone got pointers to good, low cost enclosed aluminum units that will survive multiple Maine winters? Horror stories? Etc? This isn't a wanted to buy thread so discussion IS encouraged.

2x4's and chicken wire. Anything else is a hack.

You say enclosed? I'm of no help.

Open aluminum utility trailers.. I have a Worthington 4x8 with a PT deck and PT stake sides. I inherited it.. but it is great. Lube the hubs once a year and that's it. I love it. Tows behind my little 4-door econo box nicely.

Heh, I got it home using my old Boy Scouts lashing techniques and some throw away straps... Duct Tape and Zip Ties, please.

His is real nice and light. Aside from the poofy hair, I'd consider this option.

All aluminum enclosed will cost you. You might want to go with a steel frame enclosed and just upgrade every 3 or 4 or years before rust sets in on the frame.

    Re: Kurlon needs a trailer

I have a trailer that I don't need. It is an open trailer. However, I used it last season to transport my racebike and dirtbikes. It has two wheel chocks on the deck and a fold down gate at the rear for easy loading. I just replaced the lights, but one of the wires has already come out. But, it can be easily repaired.

It would also work well as a utility trailer.

I don't need it as I'm getting a proper enclosed 6x12 (or something of similar size) for next season.

I'll let it go for whatever you might think it's worth, if you want it. I bought it about 12 years ago for $750.

I'd be willing to sell you mine, it's not all aluminum, but it IS only 2 years old (6x12 vnose with ramp door), and you're CLOSE on the money range. I'm looking for a bigger trailer. PM me if interested - Mike

I don't have anyone close by, and I'm concerned that there will be more cutting and replacing than just repairing. It was a cheap trailer to begin with and it now shows, the paint is paper thin and blistering off everywhere. Cleaning rust spots down to bare metal and covering with a good primer and paint barely lasts for a year. It's just not good metal, I'd consider it for just junk duty, but I'll still need something I'll trust with my bike.

I don't know as my budget (or wife) will work with that plan.

Cool, depending on how finances/etc go I may take you up on that!

That'd be perfect, but as above, finances may say 'no' unless you take plastic?

I bought a 5x8 haul mark passport v nose with ramp door for 2170 from hk power sports in August.

Pretty close to your price, they take plastic and it is a great little trailer.

    Re: Kurlon needs a trailer

Looking around ME and NH on the new (can finance) front for enclosed options I spy:

    6 x 12 Mission EZ-Hauler - All aluminum - $2900
    6 x 10 SGAC (Out of GA) - Traditional steel box - $2500
If I want to drive to GA to pick it up the SGAC goes for $2000.
    6 x 12 'Five Star Series - V-nose steel box - $2850
    7 x 10 Arising Industries - V-nose steel box - $3150
    6 x 12 ProLine Baby Toy Hauler - AC, cabinets, bed - $8600
    6 x 12 ProLine Base - All aluminum - $5000

I suspect I'll be back in my tent for 2014. :/
