That's a good point. I figured other folks higher up the food chain would make the announcements on NEAR or LRRS. I figured if I knew, more important people would know, and they'd decide when and how to make any announcements.
I do know that Bette and Wanda have no control over the web site ( NHMS.com ). That's all marketing. They have no problem telling anyone who asks what's going on.

Alex, believe it because, once you put the money thing out of your thoughts, it becomes more about the work we put into it. We work just as hard (if not, harder) at what we do in order to ride. We put just as much effort (if not, more) into this, our blood sweat and (sometimes) tears into this. We don't have multi-million dollar sponsors to give us anything we need, we don't have shit, actually.
I can deal with mud and cold showers, I can deal with the rusty piss-ridden urinals, I can deal with certain other things but it's obviously too much to expect electricity when every one of my hard-earned dollars goes into this just like anyone else.
But I don't see the money part in comparison to NASCAR, I see the effort on our part. We do more for that track than any NASCAR event ever will. Wanna know why? It's OUR home track and we have a vested interest to keep it up to our expectations.
The organization of NASCAR, as it were, wouldn't blink an eye if they didn't run at NHMS ever again.........but for us (well, for me anyway) it's everything.

Yup, they wouldn't attempt it if there was a possibility of affecting NASCAR.
Big difference between a 13-15 million dollar event and a $50,000 event. And, that NASCAR figure is only the on property amounts.
As Alex and I both said, go to just about to any track, there are no amenities. You have to show up with everything.

but the point being it is something we are used to having elec/ having cold showers/ if they made infield all grass no problem, got rid of showers..no problem..except for the stench lingering around the track...if i showed up to race and they had nothing i could deal just i know what i need, but the shock factor is what is aggrevating
Yeah, NASCRAP and all the hordes fuck the place up. Unfortunately, they pay the bills. It absolutely drives me nuts to see those drunken fools parked on our road racing track, dumping their shit all over it and puking up Bud and Miller Lite on the race line. They think it's an access road!
However, they need to get the work done. They made a huge commitment to make sure we have an unmolested racing surface. Have committed to getting the on track work completed by our next event. Ordered an ass load of new barriers.
Their also going to be building us ( well, and others ) a dedicated road coarse.
I think we can put up with a little discomfort for a few events.

For the record: I am all aboard with the improvements being made.....hell, take all year if they have to.
I just wish that we could get updates somewhere besides hearsay.
It hurts a little when this otherwise important information is not made readily available because you know for a fact this information would be all posted all over the place if it were one of the NASCAR events. That is my only gripe.
With the economy tanking, their taking longer with the planning stage. NASCAR attendance is down and I haven't heard anymore about F1 and any of the other series signing for dates. Several clubs have gone under and the urgency has lessened.
It could be better in the long run, I hope. They can now plan out a track that can be homologated right off instead of building it quick and adding on later.

Well that's two novices...anyone else?

Yup, the marketing people control the web and media annoncements. Those people don't even know we exist.
Wanda and Bette have no problem letting people know. It just takes a bit of time to get out there.
Read the write up about the opening weekend for LRRS on the NHMS web site. The marketing people still managed to put in a plug for NASCRAP in it. Kinda pissed me off. They never advertise for LRRS in any NASCRAP stuff.

Wow. The last paragraph.......they really did plug nascar.
Cliff's Notes:
There are motorcycles that race at NHMS, Penguin school specifically, but to purchase your tickets for the NASCRAP 30000, click here, here and here....also try here and maybe here.
Nice.
I won't say who but, I was told the place (front office ) is lousy with marketing people. If you want a decent job at the track, you have to have a lot of marketing in your resume and be worth six figures.
