I dunno how this would impact LRRS given that they're already using AMB transponders on a rental basis?
alot of the Moto Orgs are like this however they still rent transponders for "casual" Racers for like $10 with a holder

$60/weekend? Jebus. If you're going to do more than 6 races, ever, it's cheaper to just buy one.
It is adding up though. For next year:
Pneumatic helmet removal system: $60 (IIRC from the riders meeting)
New Snell 2010 helmet: $350 (that'll vary on what you get, but if I have to replace mine I'm going arai)
Transponder: $380 (for the cheaper hard wired unit)
Damn, that's another $790 before I renew my license or show up to the first weekend. Don't get me wrong, I know this isn't a cheap sport & I'll be there regardless, but shiiiit. Seems like quite a few things at once. Throw in $120 for the license renewal, $200 for winter storage of the camper and $200 for next season, and I'm @ $1310 before I register for a single race next season.
Oh well. I'll be there.
I've owned mine for the past three years. Buy it used and, assuming you haven't smashed it, sell it for the same amount as you paid for it (or more) when your done. There will always be a market (unless, of course, as Kitt suggests they go RFID). Let's see, with banks now paying a wopping .25% interests on savings accounts, what's the carrying cost on $250?

Crap, first I heard that's going to be required.
Knew that was coming.New Snell 2010 helmet: $350 (that'll vary on what you get, but if I have to replace mine I'm going arai)
Between this, the reduced dates and sharing days with the legend cars I'm really loosing interest, pile on the lack of lots of my buddies from last year this last weekend, higher fees to just stay at the track, no more grass for camping... damn...Transponder: $380 (for the cheaper hard wired unit)
Anyone want a KTM motard starter kit?
Came up @ the riders meeting last w/e. I guess it's not set in stone yet, but they were pretty clear that it's mandatory in a lot of sports and they're going to be "pushing very hard" for it. The way I heard it was "it's not official yet, but expect it".
I still have not heard it officially... just through the vines. I thought we'd be good w/ any helmet less than 5 years old, which is why I was so careful to purchase 2 brandy new, recently manufactured helmets last year. Oh well.
The reduced dates sucks. More time @ Jersey I guess. Sharing w/ legends... I wouldn't care if it wasn't reducing our # of race weekends. No fees if you pre-reg for 3 weekends, so the only change there for me was I actually started pre-reging and as such saving $20.
Don't know what to tell you on the grass for camping. By the fence between north & south garages? Astroturf? I know I've seen some tents on grass.
Don't go!
Another tidbit from a riders meeting Saturday, 3 of next year's 7 race weekends will be shared with the Legend Cars. They'll be running Saturday evening after CCS, we then get to clean up after them in practice Sunday morning after they oil / rubber chunk the track up for us. No word on how garages/etc will be handled for those events yet.
