Chris Dinoia update 08/26/10

Well I'm glad to do this update for sure. Chris came home yesterday and will begin outpatient rehab tomorrow at 9am. He's been slowly coming around mentally and is still learning just exactly what happened to him. We remind him daily about all of you here too, which is a little tough for him to fully grasp yet. He is still a little "off", but holy s#@t he has come so far. He can hold a conversation for the most part, he's eating again, walking really well, cracks jokes here and there, and is quick to show off his plethora of scars from all this, lol. He's still unsure of a lot of details and has trouble with things like his sense of time and organizational issues, but things are improving literally every day. Hopefully the rehab will improve his skills and get him to where he may be able to work again somewhere down the road.
A few of us just left his apt after a quick visit with some pizza and soda (no beer/alcohol for 1 yr per doctors orders), and we all left feeling the most hope since his crash. He's improved so much and I'm confident that the day we all share a beer and tell him how that was close one is right around the corner.

ive been out of the loop for a while, so I dont know what happened, but I am glad to hear whatever the damage, Chris is doing better! Rehab and the slow recovery to normal is such a hard time. Everything gets better faster in the beginning, then it takes sooo long to get that last bit. Bones and so on heal quickly compared to nerves and organs. It is tough to keep waking up every day trying to get better, but with good friends, it is made much easier. Larry, I have no doubt that contact with friends is more crucial than any medicine or physical therapy. The mind can do amazing things, but it has to want to, and having great people around you makes it happen.

Thanks for the updates and tell Chris that everyone is pulling for him!
