going up to New England dragway tomorrow (wed) for street night to practice my starts and finally see what the bike does in the1/4. the rules say you have run DOT tires so if anyone wants to go NO SLICKS. im replacing my tires anyway so BIG BURNOUTS for me and since i havent done this since high school in my moms Cressida it should be fun. i think its only $17 or so to race and like10 to watch. i figured it was an easy and safe way to practice my starts, if anyone one else goes it shouldnt be hard to spot me. ill be on a bike with LRRS # plates on it.![]()

Oxx, what'd you end up doing for times & shit? Some guy on SVRider is into drag racing and was considering getting an SV for his niece.

IIRC 12.5 maybe a best of of 12.4. i dont know....it was faster than Mike (half-squid) on his RC51 though
i think i may still have the slips somewhere.
i took the 1K down there once and think i did 11.5s. its hard to launch a hydraulic clutch

Wow, nearly 7 years later. Quite the bump there Oreo.
On my stock 01 GSX-R 600, my best was 11.1 @ 128mph, for what it's worth. I know the I4 doesn't really relate that well but if you're going to bump a 7 year old thread you might as well get some data from it right?
My best on my '06 GSXR 1000 so far is 10.06@144. Exhaust and PC3.

I bumped Oxx's thread to get Oxx's input on Oxx's experiences drag racing Oxx's SV. Your info does nothin for me.

This'd be a helluva lot of fun for a meet of sorts. Especially if done sooner than later before I swap my new tires on.
Anyone wanna see a V-Strom drag raced?!?
brought my girlfriend on her GSXR750 when i ran my SV1k. she made about half a dozen runs before they booted her for going too fast.

Yeah, not a worry when you've got maybe 60-HP between yer knees.
Maybe I'll leave the givi bags on.. you know, for extra drag.
Seriously, I'm doing this one of these nights.
Looks like they are already running, Wednesday and Friday nights, $20.

May 11th, anyone?
I think that's the one I'm going burgs. I'm taking the 1000 and my boy is bringing his lexus
Have you SEEN what I ride?!
I have always worn full gear and have gone past 120 plenty of times without being hassled.
ATGATT is my suggestion

All the 'gear' does not necessarily mean the same things to the same people, universally. I have mostly textiles, which is what worried me. I now have a leather jacket... so it looks like I am good to go gear wise, unless I somehow get my 60HP pile of goofy-ness faster than 120 MPH or 11 seconds. Which ain't likely.
Competition plates is the other thing. That's interesting. If I can zip-tie something onto the bike in the parking lot, then I am okay with that.
they sell the plates there for like a $1 and some zipties to hold it in place
