i think i may be taking next year off. i havent lost the desire or the enjoyment...i just dont have the money to do it. ive raced my bike at NHMS for 5 seasons now and it desperatly needs a rebuild that i just dont have the time or facilities to do it nor the money at this point. it appears that i wont be getting a raise this year at work and im looking for a second job just to make some headway on bills. maybe over the summer i can get the bike done but i need to liquidate a bunch of stuff first. there is still the off chance that something will change over the winter but i think ive made up my mind. im hoping that i will be at a number of trackdays with BoMo next year and i may do 1 race weekend just to keep my license current.
i love racing and this is an extraordinarliy difficult decision to make but i feel like im behind the 8 ball.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

Sorry to hear it Oxx. I know how hard it is. I made it about 9 years ago when I stopped racing cars. I like your idea of track days and one race weekend.

its a shame man, and its definitely a hard decision... but definitely a responsible one. TD's and hanging out at the races was still a ton of fun for me this summer.
I've been there. It's ok, you'll miss it, but you'll also have a lot more time to get shit done. I'll be back next year, racing is something I do for fun. If I can't afford to keep me and my wife financially comfortable, then racing isn't fun anymore.

Seems like a tough but good choice man. Good luck man!
On the bright side you can walk around with Carla and I and make fun of Jim.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
I raced moto x for several years and stopped in 2002 and started roadracing and raced until mid 2007 and then started just doing trackdays until this year when i didnt make it to the track once. But i will say i did enjoy the summer doing other things and not having the big exspense of racing, but i hope to do some track days and or racing next yr but ill see how it goes, anyways good luck to you and i hope you dont miss it too much.

On a more serious note, I totally understand the financial strain... I hardly have any bills at all and I still feel it from time to time... I'm kinda anxious about how it's gonna go once I have a car payment and rent to pay. I'm still locked in to racing as much as I possibly can next year, but we'll see how it goes after 2010.

If you run into a wall with a helmet on, you still ran into a wall.
Try doing some dirty riding... the street is fine and dandy but at least in the dirt you can still ride as aggressive as you want, pin the throttle, and challenge yourself. As much as I suck at it, it kept me entertained this summer.
come up and corner work, it will cover your entrance fee and if you work saturday then it might cover a race on Sunday.
Sorry to hear Oxx... we can still have some fun at TD's though.
A lot of people seem to go through this, it's not uncommon... you can always come back to it later...

That's the block I stumbled on this season. Get a dirtbike. I'm hoping to be improving my financial situation for the upcoming season, but I won't be dumping money into it like I used to. Even without considering money, I wasn't let down skipping a race weekend to rip two full days in the dirt. Never thought twice about it, and after the cost of the bike, you're dumping like $5 for a weekend of gas and no limit riding.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
